Not looking for brand advice necessarily. Just got a Milwaukee cordless hammer( 1/2 drive). Due to limited funds... I need basic type and sizes I can expect to use for working on my 2 vehicles....if that's possible. :dunno: Jeep Cherokee and Mercury Villager. Villager is a re-branded Quest and the Cherokee seems to be mostly SAE so I guess I'll need metric and SAE. Gonna start out with suspension work on both. Go with deep sockets? Size ranges? I assume extensions and swivels will be needed? Anything else to start off with? Thanks.

Deeps and shallows plus 3", 5-6", 10 extensions and a universal are your basics.

Add a wobble impact extension set (Sunex) and extra shallows as the need presents itself. Universal's too.

Metric would be 10-24, plus 27, 30, 32, 36. Other sizes as needed, these are the most common. Inch would be 3/8 to 1-1/4 typically. Sunex has some nice complete sets available at a fair price.

Acme is having a 15% off deal with promo code BLINKERFLUID on Sunex though the end of this month.

I assume that's an additional 15% off the NOW price listings in the link below.

Free shipping over $200.

I haven't price shopped yet to see how good those deals are.

Here is the link to the Sunex sets they have. I think if you sort by price from high to low the more complete sets will come up first. You'll have to scroll past the larger driver sizes to get to the 1/2" sets.

Sorry, I read right over this while I was surfing GJ and helping my kid with his homework at same time.

I'm in same boat having just purchased two, 1/2" iimpacts and pretty much had settled on what the first response in this thread suggested. I plan to stick with all six point for now and add 12 point as needed.

I would go with cr-v taiwan sockets on rails or in moulded box and add some extensions and half decent swivel to it.
I not a big fan of sunex, most of the cr-mo sockets are soft as cheese and wallow out to quickly, good grade cr-v with proper tempering are way more durable plus quite cheap . No need spend silly money on sockets but do buy decent branded swivels and long extensions.

Due to limited funds, by USED, I got an Aircat 1450 impact and a Vintage made in Japan Chicago Pneumatic 1/4 air ratchet for $50 each on ebay.

Tekton has great impacts for cheap. They don't skip sizes and offer a broad range.
