Need some suggestions and ideas for a paint room, any advice will be greatly appreciated.
I have a room in my work shop that I need to occupy for basic paint work. Majority of my paint work is outsourced to my friends body shop, but sometimes I need to base coat small parts on premises before having it cleared at the body shop. I have a 8.5'x6' storage room, built like any basic room, sheet rock walls and ceiling with a basic closet door. The ceiling is reinforced with a sheet of plywood so I can use the top for storage.
I need to insulate the room as much as possible so the fumes don't escape into the work shop, have it ventilated enough just so the fumes don't burn my eyes and easy to way to clean the walls/floor from paint dust.
My first biggest issues is the ventilation that needs to be concealed well.
Here's what the room looks like in the shop:
The room to the left is the bathroom, the room to the right is the storage (soon to be paint) room. In between is another bathroom for the property next door. Both bathrooms have an exhaust fan that goes into one gutter looking pipe that pokes out from the top of my bathroom.
The land lord is going to route the exhaust pipe to the top right through the ceiling. Since he's going to cut out and weather seal the hole in the ceiling, I was thinking if there's any way I can merge my paint room exhaust fan into the same ceiling opening.
I never built a ventilation system before... so I don't even know how big of a fan or duct size will I need, but I'm trying to keep it as hidden as possible.
I wanted to put the fans and filters on top of the room up against the back wall, and run it to the left corner of the shop and up alongside with the bathroom ventilation.
What can I use to setup fans and filters, whats the smallest size ducting will I need? What type of exhaust fans?
Second Issue - Easy Clean-up
What should I use to line the walls, ceiling and floor with for an easy clean up? I need to be able to wipe it down with a damp towel, or in the future consider installing some type of drain that can be routed to my bathroom for a quick rinse with a hose.
I'm completely stumped and I don't even know where to begin, I don't have a budget but I want this to be as cost efficient as possible since I'm already way over budget on the entire shop.
I have so many other questions to ask but I don't want to clutter the first post with too many questions and end up missing the important ones.
ANY HELP OR SUGGESTIONS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. I promise to be an active and supportive member since I own a forum myself, I believe in helping one another and filling up the forum with as much valuable information as possible for the future members.
