Bath Fan Plan

So in the front of my garage build, I have a 12'x12'x9' full bath/laundry I am starting to rough in. Plumbing this weekend if my Pex-A shows up - plastic products are getting scarce.

Looking to utilize this set up:

One Vent over the Toilet one next to (or over) the shower.


Room will have a large shower 60"x42" w/ 2 shower heads. (Regular & Rainfall)
Toilet, Sink, Washer & Dryer.

I know the Fantech fans get high praise on here as I have done some reading.

Their calculator says that this set up will do 172CFM in my room, is that appropriate?

I will be installing a Timer / Switch for running it.

Where can I source a 6" metal roof vent to exhaust this system?

12x12x9 = 1296 cubic ft. / 7.5 = 172.8 cfm needed.

What you linked is 270 CFM. That would be plenty

I will likely see how this unit runs and upgrade the other baths in the house w/ similar units.

I did find a 6" metal roof vent by Broan

Slick...... what kind of vent will you use to exit the building.....roof, soffit or something else? How about the attached for a soffit vent?

If you still can, put the vent next to the toilet rather than over it. Where do you want the air to flow, right past your face? Right next to your **** works really well especially with a good drawing fan like a Fantech. This is the exact setup I have upstairs (Fantech drawing from next to the seat) and it’s awesome.

Both vents are being installed in the ceiling - One above toilet, one at front edge of shower location
