Tried wiring a dimmer switch into my bathroom, but something is wrong.
The way it was originally wired was there is one power wire that the electrician "looped" the wire around the screw on the first switch and then screwed into the second switch, so basically he used one wire instead of two by removing some insulation on the middle for the "loop" and then screwing it into the last switch.
Originally the light switch was the "looped" switch and the fan switch was the last switch or the one where the power wire "ended."
But because my dimmer needs an actual wire to wire to with the speed nut I swapped the fan switch to the "looped" part and then put the dimmer on the "end"
This worked fine, except somehow that screwed up the circuit so I now no longer have power to my closet (which is on the same circuit.)
I'm guessing it's because the dimmer has to be grounded and the other switch did not have a ground?
But at this point I'm about ready to throw in the towel since I have no idea why it isn't working.
Any useful info or should I just call an electrician?
