Bathroom Plumbing Vent

Working on finishing up my shop which has a full bathroom with shower in the corner along with a utility sink in the shop area.

I will be adding a bath fan which I will exhaust out the sidewall. I was planning on running the stack vent out the side wall also but I'm not certain what to use to terminate it outside other than maybe a elbow with a screen insert.

I don't want it to look like a hack job. I know its not code but no inspections here, it's away from any windows and we are very distant from nearby homes.

My stack vent goes straight out the side wall. No elbows nor screens. My bath vent is a wall vent with sprung damper.

They're both on the back of the shop, so aesthetics are of no concern.

If you haven't installed the fan yet, I suggest using a high CFM model. It pulls more cool/warm air from the shop into the bathroom (which in my case doesn't have HVAC ducting) to make it more comfortable when you're on the throne.

Good question and good answers. I will also be stubbing out vent through gable wall and not out through metal roof. Myself going turn my vent down with 90 just keep dang pine needles out. How in heck does pine needle hit 2” hole? They do.

And here I came expecting a rant about bathroom plumbing. I’m quite disappointed. Not at all a venting thread about plumbing.

The vent stack in my farm shop goes into the attic, takes a 90, goes 10’, takes another 90 and points down into a 5gal bucket. I check it every year and it’s been 5yrs of dry pails and no other noticeable evidence it’s there other than a pipe.

I don’t have a fart fan. What doesn’t get taken care of with a can of Fabreeze lingers and falls to the ground.

Jblnut Interesting, what are you expecting to see out of vent?
It was a Pops thing lol. He says “you can’t do that !! What if it drips !?!?” “A vent is for incoming air you ****, not for drips or stuff leaving !!” It was easier to put a bucket by it and I check it to show him that guess what ? It’s still dry !! :lol_hitti

@jblnut
I think whoever explained the function of a vent to you was playing a joke on you with the bucket.
Now you do know about the board stretcher right?😉
I have a board stretcher. Hook it to one end and the other end to the stump the board came from and pull. That board will get longer, maybe not for long, but it’ll be longer for a little while !!
