Battery charged Lawnmowers?

I got one a couple of years back and it has worked real well. I was sort surprised at how well in fact but my yard is small and the grass is not that thick. i would have gone with a gas mower but wanted the battery so the wife could use it, I'm not kidding, she likes it too, and only cuts the lawn when I'm away.
First thing I did was coat the under side of it with that truck bed liner stuff so it wouldn't rust

One of my customers has one of those, He has a small lawn and he loves it.
I've had one for about 7 years. I got it because the spousal unit complained she couldn't start the old one! She can't use that excuse anymore.
I also have a smaller yard, but it will cut it 3 or 4 times before I need to recharge it.
The only problem I had was the charger went out about 3 years ago. The local distributor tested it before before I bought a new battery for the mower. Much cheaper than the battery! Mine is a Black & Decker 19" model.

If you search the web there are bunch of plans for home brew electric lanwmowers that if I remember correctly offered more power and longer run times for half the money, just a thought.

I have the Black and Decker 19 inch model. Works good for my small yard, but have had too many problems so I can't recommend it. Been recalled 4 times, charger failed more times than I can count, they tried to charge me $189 for a "tune up" when the box clearly says "maintenence free no tune ups needed".
To B&D's credit, they have made everything good every time but I always have to fight for it and after 8 years I'm tired of fighting. Right now the charge indicator is out and the safety switch is failing...if I can get one more year
I will be happy, then junk it and just give up. In the whole time Ive had it I always kept a gas mower here as a backup and needed it at least once every year. Like many things electric that are touted as an alternative to gas powered, its a wonderful idea but the technology is just not mature yet. Maybe someday.
