I love having a nice big battery charger that can jump vehicles. That's awesome. But the cables are always awkward and there's no good place to clip those clamp ends to. The obvious spot is the handle itself, but that's no good- it's metal! First time you forget to remove the clamps before plugging it in and you've left it turned on-
KERPOOF!
So I finally did something I've been meaning to for years. 10 minutes, a piece of PVC Pipe and electrical tape and I had a solution:
It's simple. Use a table saw or similar to cut a slit in a piece of PVC pipe that is slightly larger than the handle diameter. Now you can pry the pipe open and let it slip over the handle. To keep it in place, I wrapped it in black electrical tape. I also added the white and red spots for obvious clip points. The handle is taped at the ends to the metal bar so it doesn't rotate.
Now the unit rolls around well, and the clamps are always kept in a safe position. Since there's a PVC core, there's no chance of the leads ever shorting.
10 minutes, suddenly SO much nicer.
