I am finding myself confused as I shop for a battery charger, specifically what are the common types and do they make any combination units. I see the need for both a plain ol' charger but right now I need a trickle charger more than anything.

Lastly does anyone have any good recommendations for a charger that is made in the USA?

Many thanks in advance!

I have a small adjustable and preset ones I picked up at a pawnshop for my electrolysis tank. But I'm going to go another route, so they're up for sale. They are small USA made transformer based machines, one's a SEARS 8-amp with no adjustment, and the other a Schummacher adj.. If you're interested let me know and I'll send ya a few pictures!

IMHO, the best trickle charge is Batter Tender.

Schaumacher also makes good chargers like the SC-8010A. Charges all battery types and includes a start boost.

I have 1 of each. These are not cheap, but not really that expensive either. I would still use a battery tender for long term storage/maintenance.

I have the regular Sears battery charger that can do a 2 amp and 10 amp charge, as well as a 50 amp "starter" mode. It's always done it's job well.

For trickle chargers, I have a Battery Tender for my IROC, a Ctek for my Trans Am, and a $5 Harbor Freight charger for my tractor. They all seem to do their job.
