Like u118224 said. Get the refractometer. More accurate and no need for temp correction. I have 2. Love them.

Never used a refractometer. I must be out of date. Cool tool. Thanks for forcing me to buy another tester.
In my job I have to do test a lot of large battery banks. The first hydrometer I picked up was one of the plastic ones from the local parts store. It worked fine for a few months then one day it decided to read everything as 1300+. After that I picked up glass tube style ones and its been working fine under heavy use for a few years now. So I would say go with a glass one.

If you get a refractometer, get an ATC (automatic temperature compensation) version. Usually just a few bucks more than the non ATC.
Refractometer is THE way to go. You only need a droplet sized sample. No tubes of acid or making messes with glycol.
