Nope, built in an SBD plant using the Dewalt 20V platform. No IR involvement whatsoever

OKAY, so why would they almost copy IR design when they have dewalts design ?

everyone else uses the same design but either add another vent, change the color or add a cover by the switch (like proto vs Mac)

Sears now is selling the same tool with a 4.oah battery for $159. I have just learned that Ryoby, Craftsman and Rigid are all the same.If you pursue this make sure you get the "Heavy Duty" model.
I've had that impact wrench (Heavy Duty, 300 ft lbs version) for a year, and been very happy with it. I use it on lug nuts, axle nuts, suspension bolts, and it hasn't let me down since. It also led me to buying more C3 tools (handheld vacuum, light, etc.). I bought my dad a Ridgid drill/driver set recently with 2 batteries. If I hadn't bought my impact, I'd have gotten the Ridgid version. But the Craftsman is doing fine.

Its either the Ridgid Gen5x (which comes with the drill) or the Milwaukee 2764 (without the drill)

I just realized Ridgid is 2,500 inches per pound,

What's the model of this one on the right,
6a9b9169-14d4-4050-8866-d1a2c58dcb8a_1000.jpg

I just looked up my specs, the C3 with Nicad only puts out 200lbft wow, thought it was more powerful

RIDGID has their X4 that puts out 325lb ft with lithium, the second they release their X5 brushless Im all over it

Thanks for clarifying that, I should have noted that :D
That means I'm left with Milwaukee as the ultimate choice.

Since it says brushless I assume that has to be the new X5. But that's an impact driver, not an impact wrench.

It seems almost certain Rigid is coming out with an X5 impact wrench. If you google it you can read some of the rumors.

Nice thing about Milwaukee is that you could run a 1/2" high torque model and a 3/8" or 1/2" compact on the same battery platform. I don't know if Rigid will offer the same options.

Cool. Any idea when it might be released?

I believe some GJ members in Australia already have it, for what it is worth. Might poke around and see if their initial comments say anything about releases elsewhere and/or if it's worth waiting for.

Thank you Voi. This is something to put on my Watch List for next year. It seems this year's Black Friday is another attempt to liquidate old stock; CPO, Home Depot, Menards, and Lowes are all doing it. :D

I might even consider Makita for this one; would need to wait it out 'till it releases here.

Cool. Any idea when it might be released?

The following will come out in February:

¾” Square Drive (XWT07M/Z, with 780 ft.lbs. of torque), ½” Square Drive (XWT08M/Z, 740 ft.lbs. of torque) and 7/16” Hex Chuck (XWT09T/Z, 740 ft.lbs. of torque). They will feature a 3-speed power selection and an electric brake

Mac's cordless tools are built to spec in Dewalt facilities. Have been since the revamped the cordless line about 3 years ago. The tools are similar but unique.

I dunno about all their air tools, but I know all the ones released in the last 3 years or so are made by several companies and none of them is Ingersall Rand. All Mac's suppliers come to their annual tool fair, so I know who they are, and IR isn't one of them.

I haven't seen a MAC dealer in 10 years. I think there are 2 of them in all of the Austin area. I see more Cornwell and Matco dealers than I see MAC dealers.

The newer C3 1/2 Impact with the lithium battery puts out 300 ft-lbs.

from what i've heard putting the XCP battery (the one that comes with the "heavy duty" C3 model) on the regular C3 impact gives the same performance as the newer HD model

that said i've yet to run into something my C3 with the basic compact lithium hasn't been able to remove... lug nuts have been no problem, even the spindle nut on my jeep which likely hadn't been moved since 96 when it was installed at the factory came off (took a moment but it still came off)... one day i might find that "ain't gonna happen" nut or bolt

and since the ryobi and the c3 impacts are the same tool it should be able to do the job of removing your lug nuts

Anybody had any luck with the offerings from Makita? I already have their batteries and chargers.

I really love the Makita LXT Impact gun. Ran the bolts on my Land Rover ninety's wheels no problem. 20 min charge gets me a lot of use.

Best of all, if you're looking at a range of battery tools across homeowner and auto, Makita has a fantastic line of garden stuff which will use the same battery - strimmers, blowers, trimmers, etc. This is a win win, cos (1) you don't need to buy multiple batteries, and (2) using a drill or impact battery on a lawn strimmer is a great way to get a full charge / discharge cycle through your battery on a weekly basis, keeping the cells in top condition :)

No. I promise you this isn't true. Runtime goes up considerably with the XCP's, but any difference in power would be hard to notice just by feel. If you're still using NiCad's, then any of the lithiums will be a big upgrade.

But, like you said, even the older 200lbft model is pretty kickass. The 300lbft is honestly too much for a lot of the jobs I do (I live in TX, so not a ton of rust on my cars).

Hi guys you can see in this video that the 4AH battery makes a noticeable difference for these impacts p260 vs p261

and P261 should have no trouble taking off 80ft-lbs lug nuts I made a video of the old P260(200ft-lbs) taking off my suburban lugnuts tightened to 120ft-lbs. This was using the compact battery

Maybe take the lug nut off without the impact and put it back on, torque it and see if it will remove it.

Anyone hear any updates on when the x5 might be released? Seems like the x4 is getting harder to find.

Is the x4 really the same as the craftman and ryobi?

I went with Milwaukee because I was very happy with my 12v set & I thought they had the best assortment of tools. I honestly picked that over makita because I prefer the color. If dewalt had some of their current tools out then I might have gone that way. Decided against ryobi & ridgid because the batteries are bulkier. I'm happy with what I got but I think it's hard to go wrong. More of a personal preference decision. So many great products at great prices

I have the newer craftsman c3 heavy duty impact wrench and it's by far my favorite tool I've bought in years. Thing just makes short work of lugs like nothing.

In the professional automotive world there are really only 2 choices, Milwaukee and Ingersol Rand. Both are really good units and like said before, it really depends on what is more readily available to you. I choose to go with IR since I have used their stuff for years without issue and so far their cordless line has done the same. I have used a co workers Milwaukee 3/8" and 1/2" and I like them just as well. I would say you couldn't go wrong with either.

X2 on that! I have the whole C3 set. Drill, impact driver, sander, air pump, 1/2 impact, etc... Including the heavy duty. I have zero complaints about any of the tools.
