I don't know if anybody has every brought this up but is there any interchangeability between any brands of lithium batteries for tools? I was just curious as the dewalts are just SO stinking expensive. Never saw any chart to show such but thought I'd ask. Mike.

There are not among major tool brands. There are some specific cases like tools made by the truck brands accepting powertool company batteries but that's likely not what you're talking about.
However, there are "knock off" batteries made for nearly all major tool brands available on the web. There are risks with those however, ranging from simply poor performance, to damaging your tool to causing a fire.

I recommend looking for sales and buyin factory dewalt batteries.

You can get adapters to use other brand batteries, but I don't think there is meaningful money to save and they add bulk. They're useful to allow using a tool from a brand you don't want to buy into batteries for

I just keep an eye out for sales. Acme Tools sometimes has deals. My last DeWalt battery purchase was from WalMart.com. A very good sale price. You can setup a Google watch to alert you of price drops.

Supposedly you can use Hercules batteries in some DeWalt tools. You'll have to look through YouTube to see if this it true. I do know that you can use Porter Cable 20v batteries in Black and Decker 20v tools with a slight modification to the battery. I have a couple B and D tools not offered in the PC line that I use PC batteries on.

Dremel uses Bosch 13v and 18v with maybe minor attachment changes. Bosch Amp Share has nice coverage across a lot, but they have delayed landscaping tools to N. America, and some of the brands are very Euro-homer so no one cares as much

We've got many of the Waitley 20v DeWalt battery knock offs at work for a few years now and they have preformed well. Thay are about 1/4 of the cost. There's many out there but these get good reviews on Amazon. Plus I think they were one of the top contenders on Project Farm when he did a segment on the knock offs.
