NOCO Genius 2 or 5 would be fine for a maintainer/charger on your cart. Wiring in a quick connector is key! Has to be connected to work, the easier you make it to connect, the easier it is to keep it charged up.

I use Harbor Freight battery maintainers; I think CenTek is their house brand. They are so low priced that I consider them disposable.

I have always used Battery Minders. Inexpensive vs the ever escalating price of batteries....

I was also curious on the amp specs and some are 1.2 amp and go up to 5 amp
You choose the amp spec by the size of the battery being charged. There is some slop in the spec ……as 1.5 amp on very large RV a battery will work but it takes a long time to charge…..once charged the maintenance cycle take very little power. A smart 5-10 amp charger on a smaller battery might be smart enough to figure out the ideal rate……..a less than smart charger will not adjust. Over charging is not the best on solution.

Small batteries are labeled with the ideal charge rate like 1-1.5 amp for 6-8 hours. The cheap ( poor quality) 5 amp charger will not adjust Amperage until it goes into maintenance mode.

The high quality charger will have multiple modes and multiple choices for battery types. So it depends on how smart your smart charger really is. There are numerous reviews of charger/maintainers on the web.

Yes, batteries are in the category of large price increase !!!!!!

I went with a NOCO Genius 1, and the quick disconnect kit

Yes its only one amp with longer charge times but it was also $20 cheaper than the Genius 2

I don't run batt tenders on any of my vehicles or equipment. I just check seldom used, or winterized, batts every 3-4 weeks and charge them as required. I'm just not a fan of having such batteries hooked up to a trickle charger or maintainer while I'm not in the near vicinity.

Ctek here, too. It keeps Mrs. LS6's CRV battery topped off just fine since she works from home now.

My '99 Chevrolet 1500 Express Van sits in front of my house on the street; I was having trouble with the battery running down because the van is no longer being driven daily. I bought a Solar Panel trickle charger and the van always cranks and starts, even after sitting for as long as three weeks.

I've had good luck with the battery tenders. My friends run the CTEKs and haven't had any issues.

Seems to be quite a simple circuit and code.

Over the last three months I have thrown three battery tenders away all three of them have split the cord where it enters the metal box and they were making a spark there. No way to repair the cords since the metal boxes don't have an easy way to open them up I'll get a different brand in September as it gets cold again.

I'm a noco fan. I have one on the Harley during the winter and one on the lawn tractor. The lawn tractors battery charge circuit isn't working like it should, so I use the battery charger to fill it back up during the week.

Years ago I started out with Battery Tenders, until I discovered Battery Minders, which have a pulse desulfation feature. They make a basic model good for any battery, which I use for flooded batteries and smaller (riding mower, etc) batteries. Since I also have several AGM batteries, I buy their AGM-specific model for those.
