Battery question

I have a craftsman 19.2 volt drill with the Ni-cad battery and charger, My wife purchased me a Lithium-ion battery, can I use my regular charger for the Ni-cad battery to charge both batteries?

Most likely not, unless the charger you have is designed/marked for both types of batteries.

Different battery chemistries and charging profiles. Unless the charger specifies I would not attempt it.

The red ones you can, the black ones, you really have to check... I used the red chargers for both, and scrap the black ones to a bin...

NO!!!

I own both types of batteries and the Solid black NiCad charger won't charge the Li-ion.

This is what the solid black ones look like that won't work with Li-Ion batteries

Look on Ebay or Craigslist. You want the charger that is black and red. There are two different models out.

The Li-Ion batteries are much better than the NiCads.

The charger will have to specifically say it works on both nicad and Lithium.
Most people use the opportunity of having a dead collection of nicad batteries as an opportunity to upgraded to newer Lithium tools. You have to make the best choice for yourself..
