Getting the Milwaukee M18 mid torque impact gun. Getting the tool only version and I need to pick up a battery for it. What size do you all like?

I know the mid torque kit comes with the 5.0 battery but saw some people using the 2.0 battery.

I am leaning towards the 2.0 since it’s lighter and my projects tend to allow for charging aka I don’t need the really long run time. Even if I go with the 2.0 is the run time still decent?

People vary on this. Some like the small light batteries and others like the big ones that give more run time. How much work do you need to do at once. You can take off multiple sets of lug nuts with a 2.0, but if I was using just 2.0, I would want two 2.0s. I have many tools and about 8 batteries ranging from 2.0 to 9.0, and don't really have any preference.

For me, I like the battery to fit the tool. An impact is heavy so I use the heavy battery on it generally. Impact driver, I like using the slim since I am usually reaching all over the place with it. Same with the drill. Sawzall, the big one especially since they seem to use the most battery per input of work of all the cordless tools.

I use the 5.0 battery on the compact 1/2 impact. It lasts very well and i wouldn't say its too heavy compared to the tool.

My preference would be the 2.0- the 5.0 and up batteries aren't light and after a set of wheels, I imagine you'd feel it to some extent. Or maybe the next day after a few vehicles worth...

The above suggestion for two 2.0's is where I'd spend my money.

2.0 works fine for me on the mid torque. I'll even use a 2.0 on the 2763 if I don't have a 5.0 handy.

Out of curiosity, where are you buying the Mid Torque?

The cheapest I've seen it as a bare tool is $189.

I'd love one, but can't swing so high around the holidays.

2.0s for sure, the run time outta even the little batteries is awesome, its all I own. I'm thinking about getting a 5.0 at some point but I keep buying more/different tools since the 2.0s are fine

Personal preference. It's weight or runtime - you can't have both.. that said, the larger packs do translate into slightly more power. Just so you are aware, but I wouldn't let that make your decision.

To put it into prospective.. the small 2.0 packs still offer more juice than the big old dewalt 18v nicad stick packs.. we are just getting spoiled these days with Lithium..

CPO has 15% off Milwaukee stuff right now and free shipping over $49

I tend to grab whatever is handy, so it twice as likely it’ll be a 2ah, two of them, one 5ah. LOL. I’d like to give the big high demand 8 or 9 ah battery a try... (I actually should get one for my leaf blower...)

Got it at Homedepot.com. The HDs around me are carrying the mid-torque with the detent pin in the stores but you have to order the friction ring version online. I figured it would be the other way around.

Think the price was 199 at HD.

Compact battery for mid-torque and high capacity for high torque.

I was able to pick up the mid-torque hare tool from Acme on cyber Monday for $157 shopped. Super stoked about that.

I've got the Mid-torque and only have 1.5ah M18 batteries. A few weeks ago myself and two buddies rotated all our tires on a single battery (SUV, two 1/2 ton trucks). I keep it with me in the car everywhere I go, and always have two batteries on hand, just in case.

I like the lighter weight of the small batteries, and from an equal-cost standpoint I'd rather have two small batteries than one large one.
