Not that brand. I have a Battery Tender brand for my bike, and has worked perfect for over 10years now.

I have the 7200 model as that is what is needed to charge the AGM battery I have in my MC. Hands down it is the best charger I have ever used on a variety of batteries in our cars and toys.

HF has a "Battery Tender" copy. I bought for $15 and have it attached to my daughters car which she is storing in my driveway. I have the real Batery Tender on my Harley. Mine are only 1.5 amps. The one you are looking at is 3.5 amps. Much better I think if you have large amount of battery drainage.

I've had this one for about 1 year now... I love it! The last one was a Schumacher (sp ) it was a piece of c-ap... a waste of money for sure.

Read reviews to find a new one and found this one you are looking at...fantastic. I use it to maintain my truck that is stored in my shop building and put it on my very small 6V battery in my 73 Honda 90..works on all perfectly.

LEDs let you know what is going on all the time. Good price too, buy it!

I have a few Battery Tenders but I also have some Yuasa Brand units that I like much better. The Tender is actually a maintainer, the Yuasa unit is a small amp charger and then switches to a maintainer automatically. If you buy them online you can find them for a reasonable price. I highly recommend the Yuasa.
As for the HF charger, I bought one and it fried the battery! That was one and only HF for me.
My opinions for what it's worth.

I have one not sure of the model number but it looks identical. The guy at batteries plus sold me on it when I went to pick up a battery tender for my 300.

The car sits for long periods of time and I was starting to have issues with the battery. After pricing out the battery I decided to buy the genius and see how it works. I think it may have actually saved my battery and brought it back to life. Seriously. Its been 2+ years since I bought it and the battery hasnt given me any issues since. Then again neither has motorcycle battery and its been on a tender jr for about 5 years

I do wish either the cord for the unit was longer or the cord that go to the battery was longer. As it stands now its too short to leave in the vehicle plugged into the wall, and its too short to leave on the shelf plugged into the battery. So it lives its life sitting on the floor between the wall and car. One of these days Ill make the battery cables longer so I dont risk destroying it.

I swear every vehicle I own has the most expensive batteries ever made

After losing a couple of batteries in toys over the winters around here, I picked up a BatteryTender Jr and installed pigtails on the bike & the gas golf cart. Makes it easy to plug in without removing anything. And works great on both batteries.

And I have a Guest dual bank on-board charger on the boat. Just plug it in anytime the boat is in storage or at the house. The batteries are on their 5th year.

I also have one Battery Tender, one big charger with 50 amp boost, and 2 of the HF units.

The HF units do not have the circuitry to maintain,,they work but you have to treat them as a trickle charger,,and they both run hot to the touch.

Battery tender is excellent product, but are not switchable voltage ( 6 or 12 ).

The NOCO 3500 gives you everything as well as full LED display to let you know it is indeed working and the progress being made.

I have multiple deltron battery tenders.
One on my grand sport and one on the wife's s2000.
Never had any issues with use. Also bought 10' charge cable extension from amazon for the deletion so I could leave the tender unit on my workbench and just run the cable out to the car.

I have about 6 or 7 Deltran maintainers. I use them on the mower, the tractors, my old Jeep, and the '64 GMC. They work great I get about 9 to 10 years out of the batteries before I need to replace them.

I picked up a "household" receptacle and mounted one on each peice of equipemtn, then put a mating plug on the maintainers. I just plug them in and unplug them, no need to open hoods or seats to get to the batteries.

The receptacles have the "holes" where the plugs connect at right angles to each other so nothing else fits in them. The receptacles are Hubbell part number HBL5552B and the plugs are HBP9758VY.

I have a bunch of HF tenders, some are pushing ten years old. Think I've only had one ever go bad.

If you read the instructions they're not to be put on a battery that's at less than twelve volts. I think the comparable Deltrans say they can be put on a battery at 9.6 volts.

I'm sure they're a cheaper transformer and you'd smoke it if you tried to use it as a charger.

So far I have been pleased with my Optima digital 400 chargers. Work on AGM and flooded batteries both as charger and maintainer. Can bring a battery back from as low as 1 volt according to Optima- this helps bring back some red top Optimas if they drop below 8 volts. On the pricier side but they work as advertised. The cords are very long- can switch between car, motorcycle, lawn mower, and generator from one outlet and just rotate. Easy to read the status on the display.

I had one of those but a different model. Float voltage would run 14.5 volts. That seemed high to me for float. I call their tech support and didn't get a good answer why so high, said I could return it. I returned it where I bought it and got a refund.

(OT: it bugs me why they tell me I have to pay to send it back to them for a refund instead of returning it where I bought it and no hassles. Seems to me the seller would like to know if something is wrong.)

Other "smart" chargers I have float around 13 volts.

I use a Battery Tender on my classic - used to replace the battery almost every year after the car sat over the winter - no more. Same battery for 5 years now, very happy with my BT.

anyone else got one? I am thinking of picking up 1 or 2 of these. I am on the fence of this and tender jr. but this seems to be a better maintainer

5x the cost and only does up to 4, and your batteries must all be in 1 location. I don't see the point. ????????

^^^^I agree. I have 7 of mine installed w/ pigtails and all in different locations. Makes sense if all of your batteries are pulled/stored. I do all 4 batteries w/ one Tender on my motor home though. They are in series and stay installed but disconnected from the unit.

I bought a bunch of the HF types maintainers and give them to my buddies.

I can't comment on the one you ordered, but I've always installed Battery Tender Juniors on all the electric start equipment at work. They've never failed me. At home I have my Dad's old Dayton 5X905A. He used to use it for his ride on mower. It's a fully automatic 2A charger. He added a circuit board with a red indicator light to tell you when the battery is fully charged.

I just got this. It the battery minder #2012. It has a desulfater that suppose to rejuvenate the battery extending its life. Has many good reviews.

Battery Minder 2012

I have the exact same unit in my Guardian backup generator, it has done wonders for keeping a battery alive and has brought back a few from the dead that I thought were gone. It's a little more money but I like it because it auto starts so you don't have to worry about starting it over if the power blinks. Some of the push button units will need to be manually reset/restarted after a power blip.

That depends on which HF model you're looking at. They do have one that's a maintainer, not just a trickle charger. IIRC, their solar one is also a maintainer.

Edit: Should have read the whole thread before replying. I see that's been covered already.

I have a 4 bank, a 2 bank, a Jr., and a single bank BatteryTender and a Schumacher I use for charging a string of spare batteries.

I have 3 race cars, 3 show cars, 4 project cars and 2 "utility" vehicles plus 3 "daily drivers" so more than half of them are on a charger at any given time. I installed easy access "quick disconnect" pigtails on each of my cars that spend the most time idle:

http://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tender-081-0069-6-Terminal-Disconnect/dp/B000NCOKZQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1424326566&sr=8-1&keywords=battery+tender+accessories

Makes it incredibly easy to pull up, park car, connect charger, go into the house, open beer, pat self on back.
