Bauer Hammer Drill Chisle

I m looking to do some modding on a set of brick steps on a budget...basically I want to remove maybe 2 or 3 layers of brick from each step. Found this Hammer Drill at Harbor Freight for $100. Just want to know if anyone has had any experience with it?

I have what I believe is nearly the same exact unit in the Chicago Electric brand from Harbor Freight. It appears to have the same specs and appearance.

I've used it to break up some large boulders around my property. I've worked it hard and it has done quite well. Lately, the variable speed has been a little wonky. When on low speed, it will begin to speed up as it heats up. It's no Hilti but it will easily do the brick job you mentioned.

Goid to know....

As a side note....A friend gifted me an older Hilti hammer chisle drill, but unfortunately I cant get it to work. Not sure if its the switch, brushes or something else Hilti wanted $300 just to look at it.

An air hammer should work well if you have a compressor. I've used my snappy ph 5030 for stripping old ceramic tile and it was a godsend.

I bet the bricks are softer than the mortar. 100 year old mortar can be soft but that looks recent.
