BBQ conversion question

Hi all,
Not sure where exactly to place this question so I'm hoping this works.
I just installed the kit to convert my BBQ from propane to natural gas, but have run into a problem.
The quick connect on my house outlet is 3/8"...the quick connect on the hose in the kit is 1/2"...rather than mess with changing fittings I thought maybe I could make up an additional very short length of hose with a 3/8 male on one end, and a 1/2" on the other to join the two. Thoughts?
Is it okay to use barb type fittings and hose clamps with this set up if it's doable, or do they have to be crimped?
Thanks for any help.

Here are the fittings....the one on the left came with the conversion kit.
The one on the right was with the house outlet kit.
I'm just wanting to connect these two with properly rated hose.
