This is off topic but figured MOST garage guys are into grilling. I'm in the market for a stainless steel propane / charcoal combo grill. Like to spend under $1,000. Anyone have a suggestion? Please include the make and model # if possible. Gonna store it in my garage and it will be used at least 2 times per week. I'm a grillin fool. Thanks in advance. :lol_hitti

All the dual-fuel ones I saw during my search for new grille were black.

The one made by Coleman had S/S accents. It was pretty nice.

I just bought a Broil King propane only 590 series at HD. It's very nice !

Just remember, a combo grill will have less cooking space than a single fuel grill. You basically have two smaller grills parked next to each other.

Having said that, I like my GrillMaster combo grill. I do a fair bit of grilling but it's usually me and my wife and an occasional friend or two so I've never needed more cooking space. But if you are frequently cooking for larger groups of people or just have a thing for grilling racks of ribs then you may want to reconsider a double fuel grill

Big green egg! I debated on a dual fuel grill for months, ended up with the egg, couldn't be happier.

Just be careful if you get the Big Green Egg. They will crack with the slightest tap, kinda poorly designed in some ways, and expensive.

Are you looking a nice grill or a nice deal?

I got a ridiculous deal on a grill on Craigslist. It is an all stainless Weber Summit 670 it retails for 2,500, I paid 650 new in box. It was a retirement gift to the guy that had it, he didn't need it, he already had a stainless grill so he wanted to sell it.

So, if your not in a hurry and aren't real particular just check CL from time to time and see what you find.

I vote pellet grill, even thought that wasn't an option... Green Montains are budget friendly relative to others in the space, and do a good job.

IMO... do what you want, I'd rather have 2 grills, one propane one charcoal, than one grill with two sets of problems. I usually recommend grills like this. if you use it once a month or less(or like the smell of charcoal) charcoal is the best, if you are a weekend warrior and grill often, propane is super nice. I don't get to grill out alot because of work, and every propane grill I had was a pain in the **** because I didn't use them enough (note that isn't a problem with the grill, its the user). I switched to charcoal and I am happy, it works well for my usage and is reliable.

I guess my question is... why do you want dual fuel?

You guys make feel like a caveman with my Weber charcoal grill. LOL. I tried a propane grill some years back, I would alway forget to go turn it off after eating. Burned off a couple full tanks that way at 15.00 a tank. I stoke my Weber with the blowgun and I'm ready to grill in about 10 minuts after lighting it. I still blame the beers/wine we had with dinner for forgetting to turn off the tank.

Yep- Miles has it. The Big Green Egg is The grill. I can't imagine recommending propane to cook meat over. And, use the lump hardwood charcoal (without lighter fluid). If you use the compressed briquets with fluid you may as well use railroad ties and diesel to in it.

I've been using my green egg for 6 seasons, hasn't busted from "the slightest tap" or even when my b.i.l. knocked it down with the lawn mower so I'm not certain that Stonemason knows or is assuming how fragile they are.

If you only want an answer to the question you actually asked- I saw a nice unit at Costco but I wasn't shopping for one so I didn't look at the name.. costco dot com I guess.

I decided to go with the Weber Charcoal grill with built in ignitor system. I'm replacing my wood deck 450sq ft. with all Trex. I had a natural gas Char Broil grill that was built into my deck and since I'm replacing my deck I decided it was time for a new grill. I wanted a grill that could use propane and charcoal but after doing a lot of research I decided to go with the Weber Charcoal grill. Thanks everyone for your posts.

a combination tool will never do the same job as a dedicated tool.

I have 4 grills...
A wood pit, I use this the most often, at least once a week.
A charcoal weber grill, second most used.
A pellet smoker that I also use as a grill, not often
A natural gas grill (paid $3,500 for the thing 2 years ago) that I have used 4 or maybe 5 times in 2 years (big mistake buying that thing)

so now you can see i am obviously biased, i would go for 2 grills if you must have charcoal and gas. I woul first try one of those charcoal grills that have propane starters, they make it pretty easy to grill in a hurry. That is if you can say grill and hurry in the same sentence.

Yeah, I also have a wood burning pizza oven so I like doing it the old fashioned way, WOOD!

I've heard that having 2 grills is the way to go..The Weber I'm buying does have the ignitor system so fluid wont be used. I use to start my natural gas grill and let it run for 15-20 minutes so a charcoal grill should be about the same as far as start up is concerned.

Good choice Icky. Weber is a good unit and the flavor will be good. A "chimney starter" a piece of newspaper and a teaspoon of veg oil to light those coals.

I researched the Char Griller Duo and the feedback was mostly negative. Most complained that the grill was poorly constructed.
