Hey folks,

Just moved in to a house in October having lived in an apartment for years so I’ve finally got the chance to start building my garage after storing car **** in storage lockers for years!

It’s a two car garage, about 550 square feet.

It has new doors and new garage openers

The folks we bought it off gave it a cheap lick of paint and Epoxy but it needs plenty of TLC to bring it up to a nice standard

I started off by ordering a new window which should be here in two weeks and insulating the walls and roof as there is bedrooms above.

I am getting ‘Lally Gone’ to remove the two columns in the next few weeks.

Installing a new floor afterwards, deciding between polyaspartic with the flakes and some sort of epoxy that gives a marble look. Still getting quotes on that.

Will be installing some electrical, lighting, heating, Cabinets and tool chests etc

Should be a nice job when it’s done, but it’s never really done! I’m sure it’ll be a work in progress which is half the fun

Looks like a great project! Removing those posts will make a world of difference, and I’m looking forward to seeing how all your upgrades come out.

Thanks! I noticed the pillars for the garage doors have some rot in the bottoms
Of them. Has me considering removing the two (brand new) garage doors and installing one large garage door instead while replacing the posts. Removing the Center post would make sense when removing the two columns but probably adds to the cost pretty significantly

Has any one done this job? I’m a novice at DIY, not sure it’s a job I can tackle myself but not rocket science either?
