Hey everyone! I wanted to share my progress in my restoration project. I'm restoring a Beach B27. Here's where some people might dislike it, I'm painting it Royal Blue just like my main box.

This is exactly how I bought it. My brother did a 713 miles round trip to bring it to me haha He's a good guy and i paid him well.

I don't have recent pictures but i will get to it when i get a chance. The drawers are all sand blasted right now. I tried wire wheeling them but i didint liked the results..

So right now, i have to sand blast the inside of the box, clean everything and its gonna be ready for the first coat of primer! If i can find one day where theres no dust in the air... This might be a sundays project from now on....

Here's what I've done with the wheels. A wire wheel and a little paint,,,, I'm gonna clear coat the metal part eventually.

I would be looking for the cover plate that folds in the middle. My co-worker have one but doesn't want to sell it... It would have been so simple.

I would also be looking for idea for a top. I'm looking for something solid that can stand abuse.

I hope you guys enjoy this thread as much as me doing it

I like the idea of custom colors on some of these older boxes. Very few people get the original color match right anyway, so why not?

I approve of keeping the old Beach boxes going and refurb’ing, and I say go for whatever colour you like - I think Beach did a steel blue for Mastercraft or Gray, so non-red isn’t exactly crazy. But that’s a long way to go for a box that had a lot made and sold all over the country!

Btw, do you have a line on replacement slides? I’d like to know where to find some...

Matthew ,
When i cleaned up a Beach box not long ago I used some slides purchased on Ebay that were for a RemLine, The stops were slightly different but the drawers would slide. I sold the box so I can't say how well they stayed working. Dimensionally they were very close.

I know its a long trip for a old rusty box haha but that was exactly what i wanted and there was only one for sale at the time in my hole province so i bought it. As far as slides, i haven't checked into that yet because i'll probably re-use the slides since they're in OK shape

Tool Box 3D.JPGI did a similar cleanup on a unidentified box. The first two pictures are from the KIJIJI ad I found it on. It turned out to be an Addressograph labelled cabinet. Rivnuts were added so Beach handles and flip up trays could be added. It was finished in Tremclad "Sun Rise Red". The tray is the Beach colour, Beach offered a huge choice of colours as shown in the second last picture.
The die in the last picture is the female section I used to make friction slides.

Hey everyone! I'm here for the final update on my project. I finally took the time and finish it

I used stainless steel carriage bolts for all the handles and wheels. Gives it a cleaner look i think. Over all i'm happy with it!

I'm still looking for the front cover... They are hard to find in my area

Hope you guys enjoyed it

Good job, Sebhac0123!
I suspect you might need to manufacture the front cover. The question is getting a copy of the emblem - may be somebody on ebay makes decals?

Thank you! I've actually thought about that. Beach logos are available on Ebay last time i checked. Its an option for sure!
That looks great! I like how you tied it in with your SO box.
Thanks! I had my box scanned to have some matching rattle cans. (Because everything on this box was painted with rattle cans. Primer, paint and clear coat) In the pictures, it looks very close but in real life, it's a little bit darker sadly. Not big deal tho...

I have that same box, with the front removed . I hate to part with it as the box is in near perfect condition and with no front would drastically reduce the value. shipping would be pricey too .
I could certainly get some measurements & pictures for you tho to help you get one made

I've been using my cart for a week now. I love it. It's helping alot not running to my main box. Before a job, I know about what i need and put it on the cart. Saving time, more efficient (y)

This picture is in the middle of changing an EGR Cooler on a Detroit DD15

Can’t imagine you’d want to pay shipping the whole way across the country if I sourced making a new cover here, but if you know a sheet metal shop with a laser cutter and press brake you could get to do the work, I think I could make up a drawing and flat pattern file for the cover for you - pretty sure it’s the same box I have.

Right now i'm looking on Facebook marketplace and Kijiji everyday, waiting for one to pop up haha But it is still an option! Just like @The Cobbler said. If i decide to go that way and have one built, i will defiantly message you guys! Thanks for the replies

If you do by chance find a wrecked box to salvage a cover from, be sure to offer around any surplus slides :)
I was successful in replacing Beach slides with RemLine slides. I bought 6pcs off of Ebay on a roll of the dice. They fit dimensionally, only difference was the stops were not in the same place. I sold the B97 shortly after that so I cannot say anything about longevity.

Good to know. I don’t remember if I had looked for Remline, I know I tried a Napa slide and it didn’t fit...
