Ok, been searching on this forum and Google and haven't found much. I'm wondering about the history of Beach toolboxes.

What I do know, or at least think I know:

They were a small Canadian company started (obviously) by a guy whose last name was Beach. From what I read in two places they were founded in 1949.

Now, I know they were bought out by Stanley at some point. A couple places say this was in 1987, Wikipedia and another source say 2008. Anybody know which date is correct? I believe the earlier date is correct, but I'm not sure about when the "Beach" name actually disappeared...? Did Stanley phase it out over time or just stop using it entirely when they bought out the smaller company?

The other question is, does anybody know the details of my toolbox? There are no identifying marks on it that I can find (other than the nameplate of course)...I'm assuming there were at one time, or maybe I'm just missing something?

I've seen pictures of the same box in classified ads and such. Doesn't seem to be particularly unusual, I'm just curious as to when it was manufactured, how much it cost when new etc. I picked it up for $150, which considering my other used toolbox options in the region, was cheap IMO.
Comparably sized Craftsman and Mastercraft boxes were usually going for more than twice as much (no, there's no such thing as Harbor Freight for ridiculously cheap boxes here, Princess auto would be about the closest thing, and the quality is, well, not exactly desirable).

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

When did Beach change the logo? I have 3 boxes from the 80's that have a completely different logo to the one on your box. Don't have a picture handy but they used to say "Made in Smiths Falls, Ont."

Did you purchase that particular box in Stanley NB?

I am currently living in ON but my family has a hunting cabin not too far from Stanley. I noticed that box on Kijiji one night just on the hunt for that make of a box. I managed to find one in the GTA though one weekend I was down there anyways. They are getting harder to come by. I am not really sure but I think my particular box is from the late 80s/early 90s but I could be wrong. Here is my setup. I am into it about $250 for the top, bottom and some drawer liners.

Nashwaak Bridge if I remember right, which is only about 10 minutes from Stanley, so probably the same one. The guy I bought it from had recently picked it up for his girlfriend.

I like the top box you've got. I'd love to find one.

My dad has the exact same box. He bought it in the 90s in Zellers? (90% sure it Zellers). It's a north american made box, not sure if Canada or US made. I'm pretty sure they changed the logo when Stanley bought the company from Russ Beach (the founder), in 1987.

tldr: Stanley is a jerk
It could have been Zellers, as I bought mine at K-mart in early 90’s. My keys say Stanley, but the box is labelled Beach with a Made in Canada sticker.
