Those friction slides are not that difficult to make. Here is the female part of the die I used a few years back, the male section fit in there with some clearance. Make two pieces and spot weld back to back. The track section was bent around 1 X 1/8" bar stock with tapered edges. I used 18Ga.

Old style Gray decals are available. They measure about 4 x 5"

Anyone ever see a Beach dressed in yellow?? This one showed up on Ottawa's KIJIJI a while back, so I asked about it's colour. Got no reply.

It does look rather original though....

I didn't notice it the first time through, but the roll cab and the top box are different styles, so the chance that someone was able to buy a top and bottom at different times with the same oddball colour that nobody has ever seen is pretty remote.

It looks as though the colour options were there for the choosing. The colour page is #B20 from their catalogue.

We had a Eatons department store here so there must be some of those packed away in garages. We see Eaton brand snowblowers, tillers etc...No doubt a pink tool chest would be rare.

I picked this green Beach up at Restore few weeks back

It just beckoned me

I've seen a machinist's box this colour. But other than the odd carry box, I've not seen any other colour than red. Presumably there has to be a few pink ones out there somewhere.

All colours were special order from Beach. Winter is here again, time for me to go find a couple more double bank roll cabs.

that and the fact that the side carry handle is painted yellow tells me someone sprayed it.

Found my first Beach Tool Box by accident. A Kijiji add mentioned some tools for sale, the hook for me was a set of SK Wayne socket set. There was a variety of Husky, Gray, Proto, Cresent, Fuller, Mastercraft and an additions of off shore tools. And of course a gable Beach box. But the second box had a remarkable resemblance to the Beach. It was a Canadian Tire Mastercraft Box not quit done to the standard of the Beach but likely much newer. Any idea on how old either of these boxes are?

I would guess that they are both from the seventies. The smaller looks to have only one row of fold out (cantilever) trays. Too many similarities to not have come from Beach.

Nice pick up. I've been looking for one of those cantilever Beach's but have yet to find one at a decent price in decent condition.

The second one looks like it might have been made by SPG, I know they made box's for Mastercraft but not sure when they started doing so. Might be Beach too from the later (Stanley owned) era.

Stumbled upon a new Beach box today at a garage sale. It looks like a special run for Bell Tel. It is factory stamped Bell Tel and painted the Bell green. It housed a very smooth running 3/8" Skil drill (single speed, no reverse) with a huge cord, also marked Bell Tel, and believe it or not, the whole thing fits quite neatly in that box. My guess is this stuff is from the sixties, as I have a very similar Skil drill that I purchased new in 1965.

Anybody run across one of these or have further information?

It cost me $7 for everything. I was most interested in the box as I have lots of corded drills already.

Wonder if its an installers kit?

I bought the main pieces about 1980 including the machinist green box.
The top box came about 1997 or so when I finally ran out of room. Extra space didn't last long.

The trolley the whole mess sits on I built about 1985. It has seen many miles being rolled around the shops.

The SS angle are added supports when the top shelf of the main box broke the welds and started to drop.

Yup,
I actually looked them up about two or three years ago and then after seeing this thread tried again.

Gone unfortunately this time for good.

They were decent quality boxes that were affordable. I will admit that the Proto and SnapOn boxes were heavier built but they were so expensive , even then, they were out of the question, at least for me, at that time.

By the time I had more money I realized my Beach was a decent box and never thought again to replace it. Some repairs and I still have it nearly 40 yrs. later.

I overloaded mine. The casters tripped in a hole in the floor after the first few years and one caster folded including the box bottom long before I installed the top 10 dwr. box. Just about dumped it. Then I made the cart it sat in which made the whole thing far more stable.
Never any more trouble even with the top box and on rough floors.

10 yrs later when I added the 10 dwr. top box I had to do some work to the big main box when the top box broke some welds for its shelf support on the main box. Thus the ss angle that can be seen on the front.

THe one thing I am considering doing to the three large bottom drawers in the main cabinet is adapting some roller slides. These dwrs. are heavily overloaded something a higher quality box would have withstood better.
But now I am retarded and no longer need frequent access or roll the box around at all so it is on the list to do but no high priority.

So it will do fine untill I truly no longer need it.

Goodbye Beach.

It is unfortunate that they are dead again.

Still looking for more boxes for the collection, haven't been lucky lately. I did pass up a cheap B89 the other day, but mine is in much better shape and I don't really have the room for a duplicate, unfortunately.

Just read through these posts, what a sad story the comeback was. Always loved the look of the classic beach boxes, but being in the UK not many about. But tomorrow I'm taking delivery of a roll cab and top box, can't wait! The random photo is my son at last weeks classic car racing at Brands Hatch, I was just figuring out how to post pictures!!

I'm surprised. You don't have any high end boxes made in the UK ?
That Beach must be quite old ?
