Hello Garage Journal fans,

I’m sure many of you remember the popular Beach brand toolboxes that were made here in Smiths Falls at Beach Industries. Well, it's an exciting day - G.H. Metals is pleased to announce that we're expanding to offer the Beach Toolbox line!

We often hear that many Beach boxes are still being used in the field, and have heard many lament the loss of the great Canadian-made products, so we want to continue that tradition of local manufacturing and jobs, and exceptional products.

You can browse our online catalogue here and like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/beachtoolboxes to keep up on the latest news.

Do any of you still have Beach boxes, or fond memories and photos? We'd love to see/hear about them!

I love old Beach stuff. I have 11 boxes from back when the crest was the logo (1 Kennedy style top box, 4 Kennedy style mid-boxes, 2 6-drawer top boxes, 1 bottom cabinet, and 3 tote-boxes) and I'd like to sell most of them to find a couple of 12-drawer top/12-drawer bottom stacks from that era.

I don't know much about the more recent or current stuff, but good to see more Canadian made options, and if it's near the quality of the old product this will be exciting!

Good to hear. I've got three beach boxes - a 6 drawer, a 3 drawer and a blue cantilever type that's heavy even without any tools in it. All tough as nails and will probably outlast me.

The older boxes had so much more style. Have you thought about reusing some of the old designs? Overall they look very dated compared to most other new production boxes, especially with the twin drawer pulls. IMHO. Remind me of the old Mac/Matco/Cornwell boxes.

Hi everyone! Thanks for posting! I love the enthusiasm for Beach stuff! I'll try to answer all of your questions :)

A**holes Garage - we sell our boxes through distributors who specify price. Right now we're focusing on getting products out to the Canadian market, but we expect to expand to the U.S. as soon as we can. We'll post updates on our website and Facebook page :)

Tronyadorable - The boxes amount to 18ga. steel, double reinforced. So they'll really stand up to anything!

FJ 432 - Thanks so much!

longlivepunk - Wow, 11 boxes?! Sounds like an awesome collection!

ctb - Glad to hear they've been a part of your collection for so long! Tough as nails is right!

ShadowRuleZ - Hi Jerry! We'll be selling mainly in the Canadian market as we start, but we expect to expand to the U.S. as soon as we can. We'll post updates on our website and Facebook page :)

Just looked at the catalogue, they look like decent boxes, but certainly lack a bit of the character the old boxes have. I'll stick to the vintage stuff for now, I love the old aluminum drawer pulls, and the pull-out covers the old boxes have. The cover is one of the reasons I am so loyal to old beach, it's a really nice feature. Might want to consider bringing it back.

18 ga. is what I make my stuff out of. Plenty heavy.
My last set of drawers I did with 20. Not sufficient. I cheated with dividers.:p

That was fast. I just talked to Landon last week! It's great to see you guys on here. I think it's awesome that the boxes can be ordered in other colours too! If the 209/201 machinist boxes come back, or something similar, i will be ordering a set in green immediately.:rocker:

That's great to see. I love that style box. Now maybe I'll be able to get that roller cab I've been keeping my eye open for. Unfortunately my 8 drawer chest won't match the new style. Guess I'll have to get a matching set.

Hey everyone. Love these posts, keep them coming! Do any of you have photos of your classic Beach boxes? We'd love to see them!

zkling, longlivepunk - We've been talking about a classic-style design. With everyone here saying they like the old boxes, sounds like we'll have to keep it on the table!

Tronyadorable - And I should add, the bottoms are 16 ga. for extra reinforcement. Plenty heavy!

ShadowRuleZ - True enough, Jerry! Usually it's the other way around, with us Canadians shopping in the States :p

carcajou - Hey Ray! We're so glad you called us! I'll put in a good word about the 209/201 machinist boxes for you.

Jeff Ivers, longlivepunk - I'll upload a few shop photos after this post! And of course as you said, our website has product photos :)

lilredex, bobcatdan - Thanks for the welcome back and the link!

SD396 - Glad you like them! Our boxes should stack/fit most already in the field, but of course a matching set would look way snazzier!

Mine. I'd love to find a side shelf and a matching top, I've got a KRA-59 on top right now. I know a guy around here that picked up the double wide version as well.

Ooo, nice 12-drawer! I'm jealous. I had a chance to buy these two stacks, but the price he wanted, combined with a 3 hour drive each way to go get them made me say no. :( He has TONS of old Beach!

One of the biggest regrets of my life was not buying one of those top boxes when I had the chance before moving over here.
Maybe the nice guys at Beach could make them again?

Nowhere near as impressive as some of the set-ups posted on here, but here is my little B26 Top Chest I bought recently and gave an extensive cleaning. I'm hoping to get a Beach bottom chest, to go with it, it looks like a new one is now an option!

My current set of boxes were made in Smith Falls. They were sold under the Husky label. One of my side boxes was labeled Beach. It was almost the same as the Husky side box, it just had 1 extra drawer. Were they all made in the same factory ?

Odd that I came across this thread after posting some pics in the Vintage toolbox thread.
I bought this Beach box and sold it to a co-worker right out of my truck. If I had it to do over again I'd have kept it and figured out the place to put it later.
Dave did a great job of cleaning this box up and it looks great.

I bought this box for $15 and sold it for a hefty profit. I am learning money isn't everything. I would love to find another, someday I will.

And to the OP thanks for resurrecting the Beach boxes but please, please consider using retro styles and modern slides and such.I have not yet looked at the catalogue, but will do so. I too am just across the border from Windsor and would smuggle a box across if I had to.

Adding drop fronts to at least the top boxes would be awesome. How cool would the 42" top chest be with a drop front! I have a thing for drop fronts.

Also have other 12 drawer, 6 drawer uppers, and a TECO carry box that I believe was made at Beach.

Wow, I have a new love in my life! I didn't know that box existed, if there's a top to match I may lose my mind until I find a set or two! (one for work, one for home) Is there a good resource out there for vintage Beach stuff that I don't know about? Something with model #'s and such? Anyway, I took some crappy (sorry!) shots of some of my boxes. Right now since the garage is in reno mode the boxes are empty and in the basement, and in my old house the lighting is not so great. Add to that the fact that I was using my camera-phone which doesn't have a flash, and you get...

Most of the boxes with built in locks are missing the locks because I bought matching locks that I haven't finished installing.

Small tote I just got for free, pretty beat-up.

Slightly bigger tote, much heavier than the first, decent condition. Free also.

Big tote! Decent condition as far as dents and such go, but scratched all to s**t. Free again!

Bottom cabinet, someone wanted handles, drilled holes, and attached cheap handles with plywood on the inside. Oy. But free!

And a 6-drawer top-box, decent condition, but covered in stickers and had automotive carpet glued all through it!

Then the ones I paid for. Dearly. I have the original locks and keys for all these boxes still as well. My machinist boxes:

Stack of 3 matching boxes, showroom con'd

And two similar boxes, top and mid, slightly different era (sticker crests rather than riveted metal) in used but really good con'd

I've seen a top and bottom box like that before so they do exist, but it's the only one I've seen. That's not saying much though since I'm not in Canada.
