On the board inside there is a terminal or a c-wire connection. Can i use it to power a wifi thermostat? I dont want to overload it if it cant handle the current a wifi thermostat needs.
What model? Sometimes a C is not a C. Get a multimeter and measure the voltage between the C and R. If 24 to 29 volts AC you should be fine. The wifi stats take very little power.
It's the BRT045. I tested the wire as suggested and came up with 26 vac. So I added a wire from the board to the terminal strip and used the W2 line as it is not used on the strip for my new C-wire. So my stat now gets its power from the heater.
