Does anyone have a recommendation on where I should go to get the castings on a couple of old block grinders stripped of paint? From what I've read it sounds like some kind of bead/sand/walnut blasting might be the best way to go. One of the grinders is cast iron and the other is cast aluminum. I've done paint removal on a base with paint stripper, but I'm not looking forward to doing the main castings.

Soda blasting uses baking soda. More environmentally friendly , and a softer material.

Buy 4 gallons of Simple Green and a 5gal bucket w/lid. Let the parts soak for a few days and the paint should come off with a nylon brush. When done rinse with water, dry, and clean up with a wire wheel on a drill.
