Beaded chains to store wrenches?

I am a college student who runs a side business of fixing/maintaining my classmate's cars. I was wondering if you guys had any experience using beaded chains to string box-end wrenches together? I carry a few large toolboxes in my trunk with all of my tools, and the wrench racks just don't seem like an efficient use of space.

I have everything from 6mm to 19mm. I'm having trouble finding a carabiner that is both long enough to hold all the wrenches but skinny enough to fit the smallest ones. If you know of one I would really appreciate it, as that would definitely be more durable.

Squeeze 'em. Push to the side. Pops open. I've got several of them. They are a little stiff when new but they work very well.

You could easily make something with the same functionality as a beaded chain; just a length of string/cord/cable with an eyelet on one end and a clip on the other.

However, I believe that the most efficient use of space for storing wrenches is a "wrench roll", plus they are quite convenient for selecting the wrench you need without having to get other wrenches out of the way first.

It is kind of ghetto but I took a large three ring binder and drilled out the rivets and discarded the cardboard portion of it. That left me with three large rings that I keep my import ratcheting combination wrenches on.

That's even better then what I was thinking of. I'd seen big color-anodized carabiners in the Harbor Freight ads sold specifically for wrench holders but they wouldn't take anything as small as 6mm like the ones you posted.

I use 'em in my travellin' tool bag. For in the shop, I still prefer this new found alternative!

Huh, I guess I'm a little behind the times, I always just use a piece of rope with a knot in it.....

+1 on the wrench roll. Think mine only held 14 wrenches and hand to double up on a few pockets.

I had some carabiners that I used to use, but they can be a pain if you've got more than 4-5 wrenches on them... it seems like the one you want is always in the middle and you've got to slide all the others around.

I've switched to wrench rolls and I like them a lot better. Easier to use and it also keeps them from getting so scratched and dinged. They do take up a little more space.

I have those thin HF wrench rings. They work well for storage, but are kinda stiff to make things convenient for frequent use. I needed either to muscle it each time, or use a pair of channellocks to open up the rings. Since my wrenches are in a toolbox, Ive converted them to the spring holder type as featured on another thread.

Just use several carabeners.
