beak-jaw pliers ???

The infamous 9" offset Arc Joint Long Nose Pliers (aka beak-jaw)....(9-45757) where are they?

SK sold all the exact same pliers and pliers sets with green handles back in the day when the C-Man pro red-black handle pliers were available. All of these were made at Western Forge.

However, I've never seen this beak-jaw model with SK green handles. Anyone ever seen this? Did SK sell this model?

Does any other tool company make/sell a similar model? Wilde?

Anyone actually own one of these Craftsman beak-jaws? Got a pic?

I have damaged C-man pro wire-cutter with red/black handles. I figure on sliding the handles off and placing them on the other. Do think I can get those handles off?

Epsteins sells the regular beak nose slip joint pliers. SK still lists the long slip joint pair in their catalog. However, the arc joint beak joint pair was made by western forge and only sold by Sears. They were strictly a limited run item that I think was featured in the old Craftsman Christmas tool catalog.
I bought the three piece set from Sears and sold the individual pairs at a substantial profit on eBay years later. I prefer the long slip joint pliers made by Kal. I don't understand why those craftsman have such a cult following but, those pliers command crazy prices on eBay.

I don't think you can remove the plier grips & be able to reuse them.

I have seen a few on ebay but they are plus $100 tools. you have to really need (or want) that specific tool for that kind of dough (at least in my opinion)

HJP does have the fixed joint the 11" long reach SK version on their web site but look closely: none in stock. HJP just orders one when you order one and WF doesn't make any more for SK; these are not in the latest SK catalog.

I was thinking of injecting them with soapy water, between the grip and the steel handle and wriggling it off. No???

KNipex makes a version of the cobras with this (or similar) jaw profile, Cobra ES

ES is for extra slim, its narrower like a needle nose. You can pull pins with it or use it around obstructions.

The 250mm model is one size fits all, maybe the only downside.

I have a huge set of those PRO black and red handle tools including the torks and pick set. One pair of the adjustable pliers has a non glued grip that just slides off. They never glued it but it is a tight fit. Maybe soak in hot water.
I have a tip broken off the longggggggggggggggggg nose pliers. Went to Sears to see what they say and since these out out of protection and they wanted to give me some cheap a$$ pair. So I still have them.

I do believe that's it.

I looked at the 2016 on-line catalog and could not find a section or listing for "new for 2016" tools. And in the "NEWS" section of their website nothing has been added since 2015.

If this tool is "new" for 2016 perhaps someone at SK should take note that 2016 is about 1/2 over. Perhaps they waiting on delivery from Western Forge???

Somebody over there at SK should take note also that plain-jane ordinary plastic-dipped green handles look like **** and feel like ****. "Comfort Grip" ??? As opposed to what? Bare metal? SK never going to gain a following or a cash-rich cult following with plain-jane run-of-the-mill plastic handled tools and super-over priced toolboxes. But I digress...

I'll shoot them an email and ask when these will be available.

It's interesting to note that on page 163 of SK's latest catalog they show the 7502 pliers as being part of a specialty 3 piece tongue & Groove and slip joint pliers set but, the set doesn't have a part number which tells me that the set wasn't available as the catalog was released in NOVEMBER 2015.

It's possible that Western Forge (part of Ideal that owns SK) said hey, we can make these long nose slip joint and arc joint pliers in an SK version, want some? SK said yes but, they never came to be. I mean the Craftsman versions didn't sell well and the slip joint version ended life as a closeout item at Epsteins

Additionally, don't expect SK to field new tools quickly. For whatever the reason, it takes them forever to introduce new tools. The ratcheting X Frame wrench took well over a year from their scheduled release date and we're still waiting for the elusive fine tooth pear head ratchet SK says is coming for well over a year now.

Lastly, although I'm not a fan of western forge made pliers in general, I prefer the basic green vinyl grips SK uses on their pliers. They're durable and not bulky whereas the Craftsman pro red/black grip is too thick for my tastes and gets gummy when exposed to certain chemicals like brake clean but, that's just me.

Besides, the green handled SK pliers would look out of place in your Craftsman den of inequity

I just checked the SK catalog and they are not in there. I do have Matco Knipex made beak pliers and the Irwin NWS made beak pliers, but what I want/need is the Western Forge models that offer the adjustability via the tongue & groove.

Yes I've seen that listing. That guy is the master of popular, discontinued C-man tools. I don't know about over-priced; he's going to get what the market will pay.

She said she had no way of knowing which if any distributors had them in stock to which I called ********. R.E. removing the grips. I have had luck with using a needle greaser connected to air to remove things like that. Work the needle in the top and give it a bit of air to expand the grip and break the bond.

Yep, he's right, except for the part about "really wanted"; this pair is missing the distinctive darkened triangular shaped inset on the logo-side of the handle.

The beak-jaw pliers first appeared in the 2009 Craftsman catalog as part of 2 different 3-piece sets. Each 3-piece set was $59.99.

The example I now own was purchased for $60/free shipping.

OK, OK! Way overpriced I got it. But getting past that, it does not match the seller's picture.

I sent some pics and a note to the seller and am waiting for a response.

Apparently for these beak-jaw pliers, WF-X is the oldest date code and WF-AD is the newest date code. And the new handles don't match the old handles. Geezzz, what a headache.

Received the replacment beak-jaw pliers today. WOW...thesd are even better than the pictures. These are in better condition than the more recently minted set. The older set appears to have a better finish, not sure why.
