Looking for suggestion what could be placed over loly support columns in my garage, for car door protection for when I forget to open car door carefully, and for eye appeal. All suggestions be greatly appreciated.

There is a type of foam that is much more rigid than the typical foam rubber but is still flexible enough to where you could wrap the column & use zip ties to hold it. It's "polyethylene foam" & is used mostly for cushioning in packages. If you can find a local packing supplier you should be able to buy some. If I recall, it comes in various sizes including 4'x8' sheets. Another place to find it in large pieces for free, might be at TV & appliance stores like Best Buy or a rent to own type store. http://www.foambymail.com/polyethylene-foam.html

Another method would incorporate indoor/outdoor carpeting, thin and pliable, it could be glued around your Lolly columns providing protection for your car door edges from being damaged.

"Armaflex" foam in 1" thickness is available for various pipe size up to very large pipe. This is a rubbery foam which would afford great protection to your doors. A commercial HVAC/Plumbing house could get it for you. I sometimes comes with self sick adhesive along the edge, call for pricing and availability.

What about the padding and then the cover wrap like they use on the support pole for football uprights?
You could do something similar by buying the padding ( could be yoga mats ) and then do a wrap with a graphic on it. Graphics shop can do one up with Velcro to hold,it,together or you can go to the fabric store and have someone stich one up yourselves
