bearing packer

Ive always been a ******** guy using the palm,just as Dad showed me.(he was a military aircraft mechanic )
Many years ago I bought one of those cone type packers,but never found it very useful.
Enter the new ones. I bought this Lisle thats made in USA and of what seems like good quality.
I used it yesterday and it was slick.
For the $20+ I spent it was well worth it.

Yep, love that little tool. Leave it loaded, cap on, and it's always ready to go.

Neat idea. The biggest improvement in my opinion is that it holds grease cleanly for next time.

I have the old style now - usually I can't even be bothered to go find it, I'll just pack the bearing by hand.

Yea big plus on the storage,
I wish they would have o ringed the red cover/cup,but i may improve the seal and make a tighter fit with a wrap or 2 with electrical tape.

I might look into a bearing packer soon since I need to do the bearing on my 2WD S10 soon. But packing by hand isn't too hard.

I helped out a tractor mechanic one winter and he just used a grease needle on a grease gun. It goes so much faster and is a lot cleaner. Plus you'll find lots of other uses for the grease needle after you have one.

I do the needle thing in the field too. The cone with the zerk on top is too messy. Lisle one is nice for the shop especially when I do a trailer and just hit a bunch of bearings at once.

I really want to find a used bucket top packer for cheap.

I fixed that issue by getting a vehicle with sealed bearings. I was sooo tired of packing those tapered roller bearings.

I hate sealed bearing units, once oem isn't available it's impossible to get known quality.

At least I didnt mention Rosy.
just did a trailer thats got 8 bearings,took no time at all and gloved up so no mess.
As for the needle attachment,theres no way you can convince me it does as good a job as this
