I have a MAC, which I suspect may be same as yours...bent mine all to hell pressing a yoke off a PTO shaft.
In fairness, I had damn near 20 tons on it, and not much bite with the seperator. I think most any brand would have failed in this situation.

If you were pulling a Dodge hub they have a special puller tool that will pop the hub off on the truck for you works pretty good. OTC makes them.

search Ebay for "Owatonna" (aka OTC)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Owatonna-To...934713?hash=item4d03b8f4b9:g:ZvMAAMXQWzNSm-ki

I think there's a small one on there right now made by Herbrand. yeah... been on there quite a while:

Granco:

(probably Army surplus)

OTC probably makes them for a mess of other companies.
Others: Cal-Van, CTA Tool.

The yukon bearing puller is hands down the best for pinion and carrier bearing removal. It ain't cheap, but its worth the money if you do a lot of diff work. For hub or pressed on axle bearings, a torch works best, spin rapidly with a good hot cherry on the inner race and it literally drops off.

I had a big 8" OTC one that was stellar. There was a thread on here about a year ago that pointed out OTC is manufacturing in china now. Check coo and look for an old one. Mine was from the 70's - 80's. I have a snappy one now which looks and feels good but I haven't given it the use needed to praise it up yet. I like the fact the puller threaded holes in the splitter cheeks are offset and not 90' from centre. This allows you to get your hands inside the puller apparatus easier to remove axel nuts, bearing cages etc. or place spacers or guide the forcing screw.

Curious as to why you wouldn't just torch it off if your replacing it anyway?
Nick the side of it and split it...

What exactly were you trying to do?

Curious as to why you wouldn't just torch it off if your replacing it anyway?
Nick the side of it and split it...

even before that step...

Did you try soaking the axle in penetrating fluid? preferably 50:50 ATF/acetone...
and  IF it's that bad you should be pre-heating the race and then try pulling

Then comes the Above

Take pictures of what you're doing next time. I'm having a hard visualizing this but we can probably tell you a better way
