Bed liner repair?

The 25 year old tailgate handle on the Silverado is finally giving up. I had Ziebart spray in a liner way back when I bought the truck new. Took a chisel to cut out the bolts. The replacement handle shows up in a couple days and was wondering if a rattle can (Rust-Oleum) of the stuff would be best to cover back up the three bolts? And then respray the whole tailgate? This spot is all that needs patched, so don't need a lot. Is there some liquid or roll/brush on stuff that might work better? Thanks.

There is spray on in a can bedliner and some roll on/brush on in a can.

I would probably do roll/brush stuff as I think it works better. I believe Menards has both.

I had a small spot on the inside of my 05 F-150's tailgate where the LineX was scratched off that was down to the body color. I got a can of Rustoleum spray on bed liner from Lowes & used that to cover the spot. I did it about 6 months ago & seems to be holding up.
