Bed liner texture

Looking for a DIY Bedliner kit that has lots of texture. This is to be used in my newly fitted out duck boat. I want texture so that on cold below freezing mornings when the dog gets back in and shakes the floor won't become a skating rink for me and the dog. I have used one DIY product in the last duck boat and it didn't last in the high traffic areas. I did a search on Bed Liner but didn't find any posts about texture. I did get a quote for Line-x. For my little 8' long by 6' wide spot they want $1100 for black and $1700 for colors. Yeesh!

I've used raptor-liner with good success. The kit comes in 2 parts you mix and the gun to apply it. The few times I've used it, I've always thought to myself it is rougher that most bed liners I've seen in the past.

It seems that the other popular DIY bedliner is MonstaLiner. This one is also roll on so maybe you could even add some extra texture media??

As mentioned by Mr Roboto you will probably need to apply it with a schutz gun to get any real texture out of it but texture is not really going to make it any less slippery. You really need to find a bedliner that has anti slip properties to it.

I used one called Herculiner and it came with a special roller that left a good texture and was ~$100 per gallon 15 years ago. I used some of the left over on my duck boat and it held up great.

U-Pol Raptor Liner is around $100/4 Bottle Kit and usually comes with the gun. I just used 2 kits to do my F250 shortbed, rockers, and over the rails that I played on heavy. You control the texture by pressure and distance, but I think it will still ice up on you. You could sprinkle some play sand on top after you spray?

I've used Herculiner too, it has rubber crumb in it, so a bit more texture. Maybe spraying it instead with a schutz gun for extra texture?

I have used the duraliner stuff from lowes in the past on atv projects. Used a foam roller from lowes used on deckover. HF sells the same thing now for $50 per gallon. Lots of folks apply with a hopper gun for textured ceilings many youtube videos on it.

We have always laid rough cut 1x4 spaced 1/2" apart on floor of skiffs. Makes it safer for uman beans as well as dogs year round. This is how we have done it for decades since we evolved from cedar strip skiffs to aluminum.

If you want texture use Herculiner it has ground up pieces of rubber in it. I have used raptor liner and Herculiner both. I think herculiner has too much texture for a truck bed liner, the raptor was better for trucks, the Herculiner should be great for a duck boat

U-POL Raptorliner seems to have a little more texture than others.
Maybe mix a little sand in before you spray it.

I've heard you can spray it with raptor liner, then sprinkle large grain sugar everywhere.

Let the bed liner dry then spray and wash the boat, the sugar dimples leave it extra aggressive.

You want texture and even coating.......it must be sprayed on.

I have done multiple projects with HECULINER........I would never recommend rolling or brushing. Get an undercoat gun apply multiple coats ( even and light) and clean an prep the surfaces very carefully exactly as the instructions say. Careful masking and personal (gloves, suit, mask, hat ) protection is also critical as the overspray sticks to everything.

I use Raptor liner, and so do the dealerships around here. For the money, it can't be beat. If you want it thinner, we just used some reducer and it sprays PERFECT. Around here, if you order 2 kits or more, they give you the gun for free. It sprays pretty chunky straight out of the bottle. But I've seen some bedliners that are crazzy chunky. Not my taste, but to each their own.

Looks like I'm a little late to the party but here's my $02.
Monstaliner is a great DIY product. Just used it on my enclosed trailer. The advantage of Monstaliner is that you control the aggressiveness of the texture by additional rolling of the two part product. Comes in lots of colors and is available in quarts, gallons or two gallon kits.

I'd vote Monstaliner as well. You can roll it on or spray it on. I've done 3 Jeeps with it and it's turned out awesome with each. Done both black & color. Plus the absolute best customer service of any other brand. You can call them up and they'll walk you through everything and help as much as possible.

Sorry but none of them are going to prevent water from turning to ice in the bottom of a boat. Adding a non-skid, gritty material might help to a point, but even that it going to get ice on it when it gets wet.

Hi, I'm even later than burleyfarm, but the sun takes a while to get around to this part of the world...
I spent some time in the Northern Isles of Scotland, where people like to shoot at geese in the wintertime, and problems like this do occur. My opinion, for what it's worth:
Nothing is as good as slatted wooden duckboards in the bottom of the boat, they let the water drain through but they do get wet and icy so need to be topped off with something non slip onto the wood slats. Wire fencing mesh works well, something like 1" square 'weldmesh' but needs to have all sharp edges tucked under. I suggest you make wood duckboards to fit the boat and spray the non slip bed liner stuff onto the top of them and then you would have non slip wood slats and less risk of injury to your dogs paws than using steel mesh.

Rolled on the Raptor bed-liner per instructions 3 days ago. Nice texture, good coverage. I really could have used an extra quart but didn't order it. Seems to be adhered quite well. First real test is Wednesday morning opener for duck season.

I have used both the UPOL Raptor and a product called Dominion Sure Seal from Canada. The Sure Seal is pretty gnarly as it seems to have ground rubber in it. Contrary to what others have posted, the Raptor is capable of producing a finish that's just a little more textured than a vehicle vinyl top. I have sprayed and rolled the Raptor product with equal success. Remember that the 2 part Urethanes like UPol and Sure seal are pretty rugged compared to single stage air dry liner material although, I have seen plenty of single stage product work well. One advantage of any single part coating is that you don't need to catalyze a whole batch just to do a touch up.
