I thought I would show everyone what I have been up to for the past year.
My wife and I built a new home. We were the General contractor on the build. On top of that we did all the flooring, paint, trim work. For me, most of this was a first....learned a lot along the way.
On to the pics.

Garage is coming along. I still have to finish drywall on the front wall. Paint will come next spring.
Thanks for looking and I Hope everyone has a great holiday !!

Congrats! That's a huge accomplishment! I bet you saved a ton, too. Anymore pics of the garage?

Big job building a house, now you can sit back a little and enjoy it.

In the third picture that shows the basement what is the little enclosed area that the two windows look out into?

Thanks guys. Saved a lot for sure, also learned a ton. I was never a wood guy, metal fab sure but never wood. Saved money and got new tools for the job, best part of the job.

White 99, the windows are egress for bedrooms/family room. They lead out to a window well with a ladder for emergency exit. I will be fabbing a cage to go over it this spring. Keeps the critters out but still able to lift off if needed.

More garage pics to come, gotta go out and blow some snow now........hate winter.

Very nice looking house. I really like the use of the weathered wood in the garage. Might have to borrow hat idea for mine.

Thanks Schwinn, the wood is all old pallets. All free from the build of the house and off of Craigs list. I still have a lot of it left for overhead cabinets in the future. Some of the cabinets are old bookshelves I built doors for and then clad in the pallet wood.

Great looking house! I'm considering being my own GC as well...did you find it difficult to secure financing without a GC?

Thanks Shoester, we had it pretty good. My father in law is a builder so we used his license and had no issue. As far as the bank knew he was the GC.

Thanks guys, the lift belonged to the framing crew. Made a hell of a mess with the rain we had.

920kip, wrong side of town. I am located in the Howard area.

Looks nice, I bet you are ready to enjoy the fruits of your labor! Also I assume some nice savings in your pocket, being your own GC and doing a good amount of work yourself.
