Have some stuff I found that was too nice to pass up, but that I don't have a need for.

All prices are plus actual shipping, I will combine in one box if someone is interested in it all.

Snap-On S9721 double swivel 5/8 spark plug socket. Possibly needs new gasket inside. $12 + Shipping.

New Brittan 3/4 drive breaker bar and Armstrong 3/4 drive extension. NB is 17 inches long, Armstrong is 15.5. Will throw in free Williams 11/2 socket seen in the picture. $25 for all (plus shipping). These babies are heavy, so not sure how much shipping will run.

Easco 3/8 drive breaker bar, excellent condition, looks like an early 70's model. $10 plus shipping.

If someone wants additional info, let me know. I'm not on-line often-it'll probably be Sunday before I get on-line again.

I PM'd him the same thing an hour or so after he posted this last night, but I find it quite unlikely that I was the first to speak for it either, so like as not both of us will be missing the catch on that one. I hate it when that happens!

Thank god there is no written set of rules like that. Besides, who are you to stand in judgement? not to mention if that were the case I bet you would have seen a boatload of posts by the time you made your post, at least one of which would have been mine.

BTW, Uncle Buck, I believe that repling to a thread, instead of private messaging, is a better way to let other members know the items has been taken. If you think PM is the way to go, which member other than you and the seller will know this?

I love tools but there are things more important than tools in my life.

I am sure you view this as some kind of etiquette thing or something along those lines. Perhaps this is a rule on some other board you frequent, but that is not the case here, it never has been. So if you view someone simply PMing the seller that they want a particular item, with no announcement in the thread of their intent as boorish, then I guess there will be a huge number here just guilty as I am. As much as you do not like it, there is just not an established protocol here with regards to that, and really, I hope there never is. It has nothing to do with buying some old used tool, trust me I have tons of that ****. It is more the mother may I rule types that seem to have overrun GJ, and the classifieds section in particular that rubs the wrong way. This place is just not as friendly as it once was.

BTW: As I originally stated, I bet you dollars to donuts that another member PMed the seller of the desire to buy the socket before I did so really I doubt either of us needs to worry about donning the catchers mitt.

An advantage to PMing is that it avoids the 'dibs' issue of posting in the thread. I have often seen where interested parties with questions posting in the thread sort of stalls the sales process or puts it in limbo.

Sometimes the interested poster decides he doesn't want the item but doesn't say so in a follow up post. Then it's up to the OP who's selling to repost that the item is still available. PMing avoids all that.

So far, when selling here, I simply go by the order of incoming PMs and don't pay much attention to the thread postings. Mebbe that's just me. Mebbe I'm wrong. But that's how I been doin it.

From a sellers standpoint after a day it is the first with cash that will get it. Unless of course the buyer asked for me to hold it.

If you'll notice in the OP,Beerman states he's not online often so it may take a few days for him to get back to his PM's.I had this issue when I bought off him before but everything worked out smoothly once I understood that he doesn't have easy internet access.Tools came well packaged and as described so I would buy from him again.

I've dealt with and talked to beerman a few times at the market of fleas outside Columbia, SC - he's a good guy and you shouldn't have to worry about him following thru. As was pointed out, he stated in his post that he's not online much, so don't be surprised about a lag time for contacts.

As far as any "rules" for the classified, I'd say less is always better. It'd be nice if folks interested in an item were to post on the thread as well as a PM (I try to), but I sure don't want to see anything "mandatory" for that. IMHO, it'd also be good for the seller to post his intentions too, like PM's in the order received, or actual post replies order, or whatever. The only thing that would bug me would be a "first with the cash wins" protocol since not everyone has/uses FleaPal, or the possibility of quick-sending funds not knowing if you're really buying it or got beat. If a "first with the most" payment scheme was the seller's preference, I'd just skip 'em and look elsewhere.

If/when I ever get around to posting some stuff (to finance a gun safe), it'll be order of PM's.

If you're smart you PM the seller and not post about it until AFTER you PM. Bumping the thread can have negative consequences unless you send money first.

BUT some people for some reason have horrible communication skills and do not respond to PM's. Go figure.

As Buck said, if it's a hot item, you can count on 10+ PM's to the seller before you even get a chance to post...unless you're a classifieds hawk for which I am guity from time to time.

Didn't mean to start off a bit of an argument.

For the record, I haven't sold that much here, but in the past where more than one person wanted something I'm selling, I've always sold to the first person who responded via post OR PM with a definitive "I'll take it" or something thereof. I like Powder Keg's idea of stating this in the post, which I will do from now on.

Uncle Buck responded approximately (according to the time stamp on the board) 45 minutes prior to Gougou. So if he still wants it, it's his.

I'm going to be sending Buck a PM with my paypal info. If things fall through with him, it goes to Gougou. Hope there's no hard feelings on ANYONE's part.


In case anyone else is interested (I'm going to PM Joe Mama) the Easco breaker bar is approxmiately 10 inches long when you include the male end extended (as it is in the photo).
