I'm mildly relieved that I won't have to worry about keeping a metric set lol. SAE only is expensive enough haha.
If the facom order comes in tomorrow ill update again lol. My plier drawer is ever evolving as well lol.
Lets see some more before and after examples.

I shouldn't be documenting this. Wife might get mad.

My thoughts exactly! :lol_hitti

Oh man, this forum has been nothing but trouble for me! Most tool purchases I had planned for sometime (in many cases years) but having the space and my own garage (and sufficient funds) slowed me down somewhat. I have been dumping most of my funds into my 1931 Ford Model A but this forum distracted me enough from my projects to invest in some tools and organization. It kind of spiraled from there.. As a side note I have only been a member of this forum since February.

Before Garage Journal:

After Garage Journal: (I have a pedestal for one, and I'm probably going to use the other one for buffing and will probably build a new workbench for it).

I had the wrenches but I got some wrench racks, and added two new metric sized larger raised panel wrenches to my full polish metric (USA craftsman) set on the right to fit the size gap between my 13 piece metric set and my 5 piece large set. Standard RP usa craftsman wrenches on the left. Not pictured are 5 piece USA craftsman large wrench sets in standard to 1 5/16 and metric to 30mm. I got the last large USA wrench sets in the store for metric and standard (and on sale)! The racks are great. They gave me back more than one full drawer of space just having things organized better.

I had the SK flare nut wrenches, but the deep offset ones I had just purchased discovered they were made in china, and got rid of them in favor of some NOS USA ones, which in my opinion feel better, fit better, and look better. (and they're slightly thinner too.) I also had the crescent wrenches but I did get and modify some ernst wrench racks to organize things better.

I had my eye on both SAE and Metric nut driver sets and decided to pull the trigger and get them after they went on sale. I've got to stop looking at tools all night on this page! They multiply much faster doing that...

I had been eyeing the SK bit socket set for years, but it's a little spendy so I've resisted and made do with some of the loose bits I've had to do some jobs. Well thanks to garage journal hot deals section I found out about a BOGO deal from tooltopia with the torx set, and the mixed set for ~$240. 78 bits in all with 10 overlapping torx bits. I pulled the tamper proof and external sockets out of the other case and put them on a rail in the interest of space. I did have the rethread kit (red box) prior to Garage Journal and its been a godsend working on my 31 model A. I use it a lot! I highly recommend the craftsman re-thread kit. It's still USA made and I think the same as the snap on kit. (made by Kastar I think...)

Since Joining Garage Journal I got Hansen trays for all my sockets - and dang it my OCD goes crazy over empty pegs so I've been buying more loose sockets! I still need 1/2 inch drive deep 1/14, 10mm, 11mm, 23mm, 24mm, and 25mm.... I ditched my full polish cman ratchets to the spare portable box for a Dual 80 snap on and some SK fine tooth ratchets. Will get some 1/4 inch ratchets next month because the craftsman ones (not pictured) just don't cut it anymore after the Dual 80s and SK ratchets!

I was in my local hardware store and they had some USA made vise grips hiding behind newer stock. Another impulse buy spurred on by garage journal chatter.. I only had one prior to GJ, now up to 3.

I bought my first house 3 years ago, and this tool box 2 years ago. Prior to that I had been living in apartments and filling my extra bedroom closets with my tools. I had two portable tool boxes packed to the gills with most of my hand tools and emptied them into my 26inch craftsman top and bottom chests. These two boxes had been basically empty until two months ago prior to joining GJ. I was intending to fill the grey one with another set of SAE tools to take on the road with my 31 model A when on tour for roadside repairs. After discovering how much sears craftsman stuff is going overseas I went a little mental buying up the last of the USA stock in the stores around me. I ended up getting another metric set of wrenches and sockets also in the black box to take with my truck. Besides you don't want to take your good tools on the road or over to a friend's house right? I'll leave the snap on and SK in the top and bottom chest at home - (and they seem to be multiplying at an alarming rate in there!)

If ATC (who posted in this thread already) sees these tool boxes he might recognize the sticker on the front of the black portable box. I recognize his username from there. My username is a carryover from FTE even though I live in Washington now. I'll always be a Montanan at heart though. My avatar used to be an airplane since I'm a pilot but I guess the Model A fits more since that's what I enjoy in my free time. I used to be pretty active over on FTE but since getting my 31 Model A most of my time has been over on the Fordbarn forum for the last couple years.

What do you think 34 years looks like?

yep i know what ya mean :lol_hitti

i started buying tools, toolboxes, and garage "stuff" in '76.
lots of boxes have come and gone since then, but the tools keep piling up..

only tool i've sold was a plasma cutter and cart that i really didnt use, and was taking up valuble garage space.
