Before torque wrenches were invented people were smart enough not to F&*k **** up......

I am constantly amazed at how flippin' tight people think a 1/4" bolt needs to be.

I agree with Finn, a good mechanic can feel when you're approaching yield point. I have worked in the field for almost 60 years and the only time I would use a torque wrench would be on a large array of fasteners such as an engine head. I do understand critical components such as aircraft and things involving human lives, torque wrenches are important.
