Begining pliers set

Looking for a pliers set because I only own one set of Channel locks and some cheapo stanleys.

What do you think of either of these:

Nothing wrong with those sets. But this set would be more desirable to me. Just because I like the quality of all my Channellock stuff.

I think the two Craftsman set are good but the prices for Ebay are high you can probably buy them on sale at Sears cheaper

i would stick with craftsman then... they have a sale on some sets right now, and if your just a home user and don't have tool trucks coming by sears is easy to get warrantied.

Yeah, craftsman is pretty decent and like others said, wait for the sale for a good deal.

If I had no pliers and needed to start a set I'd get the following types first for all around use:

-Waterpump
-Linemans
-NeedleNose
-Side Cutters (with angled head if possible)

After that, I'd get end cutters, carpenters Pincers, long reach and so on...

The problem I am encountering is most of the pliers sets sold in the Sears stores are "Made in China" now.

You might not like the craftsman professional set with the grey handles. They have an akward soft grip in my opinion that moves around when using. Try looking for proto pliers on ebay also.

Oh plus I do have one set of Channel lock waterpump looking pliers now. So don't really need those. But if they came in a set that was a good price it's no biggie. I will just watch the sales on Sears and see what that turns up. Thanks everyone

Last time I checked most of the pliers at sears were made by WF in the USA.

Only the precision pliers and the Evolv ones. All the rest—the black-handled Craftsman and the black and red-handled Craftsman Professional—are made in the USA, mostly by Western Forge (including all the ones in the set cdan03 linked to).

The Craftsman pliers are great but I wouldn't buy them off of E-Bay. You get new Craftsman plier sets from Sears for reasonable prices...

channel lock makes some nice stuff. I actually picked up a pair of their crimpers and a wire stripper tonight on sale.
