guys, three years ago a local Chevrolet dealership was closing, I got word, and boogied over and scored myself a 2 post 7K lift for 750.00. I'm now just getting around to getting it ready to put in my garage.....

Of course I didn't take any pictures when I took it a part, and I really wish I did because these tabs at the end have got me thinking....

I ground all the scaling off the base this weekend and started painting it when I got back from work today, however, this angle iron that's welded to the side I don't believe belongs....my only guess is the dealer put this on an un-level floor and used the angle iron to shim up one side so it would be level...

I want to grind them off, smooth out and paint, but, I figured Id ask the experts here before I do so just to be safe than sorry....I have no other idea why they'd be there........anyone? Take a look at the pics and the arrows pointing to the said angle iron.....

Thanks Pete

The Chevy dealer i work at is taking down(replacing) all there Benwil Lifts, they are not like yours though, they are 7K pound lifts but asymetrical* arms and the equalizer cables dont run across the floor like that , they go overhead, and the power unit is not seperatly attached like that one in the illustration, in either case, it does appear that angle iron was added on
BTW our shop is switching to in-ground lifts..
