Bench brushes. HF? Tough Guy? Old City?

Post your bench brush here (I didn’t see any other threads on this).

I clean up my small workshop with a broom, a HF bench brush and a dust pan.

For $2.50 from HF, you can’t beat the price and performance seems perfectly adequate. HF says it compares to a product from the Tough Guy brand.

My HF bench brush is sanded, stained and sealed with poly.

Who uses one or nicer ones? Made in the USA or elsewhere? And is it more satisfying when the cost is 10x?

I recently came across the brand Old City Unlimited (on Amazon).

Anybody have one?1743457431177.jpeg

I have used radiator brushes in my shop since the 70’s to get into all the nooks and crannies, as well as for a bench brush. I keep three hanging in my shop

I have a HF one from over 20 years ago. It is still in very good shape.

I would only replace it if I found one that was made in USA (maybe a Fuller) at garage sale prices… but, mine is probably good for the rest of my life.

I have a collection of "bench brushes" around here.

1743466816203.pngLeft to right:

Unmarked "hair brush" - it's actual animal hair - I got this from my FIL when he moved his shop to FL.
Unmarked "plastic bristle" - It has some markings but they are worn away - picked this one up at the curb.
The next 3 are generic brushes.
I'm not clear on the right most unit - plastic bristles but not clear it's designed function.

Do we have a "shop broom" thread yet? I have quite the collection of them too.

Cheers

Jim

I use this one and currently derive 14x the satisfaction in using it. Pretty sure when I bought it I only derived 8x the satisfaction.

I have a couple of beechwood and horsehair wallpaper brushes from a DIY store in Denmark, brought home as souvenirs from many business trips to the Copenhagen area. I like these a lot and take care of them.

Do we use wallpaper brushes here? I don't think I've seen them.

I'll update this thread with pix.

Absolutely. I spent a spring in LA area hanging wallpaper (not a euphemism) with my brother one year and we used the hell out of them.

Ah, yes, of course -- the narrow kind that one holds from the top and sweeps. No separate handle like a counter brush. My Danish ones are different -- they're like a smallish counter brush with a fairly wide footprint.
