I bought a Stanley Bench Grinder a while back, and I am just getting back to completing it for use. I removed one grinding wheel, and the paper tag on the wheels was a 7"x1"x1", that was worn down to about 5". I want to replace both wheels, and have one coarse wheel, and one medium wheel. I started looking on eBay to see what the offerings were. I found many different color wheels, but nothing as to saying what grit they were. Are wheels colors used to determine the coarseness? Is one brand of wheel better than another? I was only looking at USA and Israeli made products. I want quality wheels that are not going to explode and kill me!
If you remember the old thread about the grinder and stand that I picked up, it was missing the eye shields. I have since located a pair, but unfortunately, I had to buy the grinder to get them. The only good news about this, is it was relatively inexpensive, and only an hours drive. After cleaning the glass, I find that the lenses are serviceable, but the glass is cloudy. Looking at the edge, it appears that it is made of automotive safety glass, like what is used in windshields. I was wondering if anyone knew where to purchase this glass.
