Not sure what you mean, I'm not a machinist by any means. I just put a dial gauge on the spindle and rotated it by hand...

If so and you are running aluminum or silcone carbide wheels its just fine. The wheels should be dressed before use taking any runout out.
If this is a slow speed grinder and you are going to be running an aluminum wheel with CBN bonded to the rim, then yes its excessive.
