A few weeks ago I picked up a six inch Baldor grinder for $20. I knew it was a bit of a gamble since it was frozen, but knowing how Baldor builds them I was fairly sure it could be brought back. Turns out it had sat out in the weather so long that everything outside of the motor housing was toast. Penetrating oil into the seals got it moving but I had to replace the cord, capacitor, switch and every single spade connector. All rotted through. Nonetheless, the coils and arbor were fine. Zero water intrusion into the motor housing. Bonus, it runs at 1725 RPM. So I gave it a soft wheel for sharpening duty. Before and after photos.
