I'm going to remove the template from the grinder which has very small rivets. What is the procedure to replace those? Do you use a pop rivet gun for rivets that small?? Thanks

Without seeing it I'd say yes. If the rivets are too small you could probably drill out the holes for larger ones.

You can buy tubular rivets that will be an exact replacement for the rivets you're removing. You'd also need the proper tools to pein the rivets to hold so for a one time deal it could get pricey. You have to be careful using pop rivets on motor covers. Often times the clearance between the outer cover and the internals of the motor are very tight. My personal opinion is that pop rivets look horrible as replacements but if its for a user piece and you're not shooting for a "restoration" I'd say go for it if you've got the clearance.

I'm not sure I know what you mean by removing the template, but if you're talking about an ID tag or name tag they're often held in place with a push rivet that looks like this:

attachment.php

They get tapped into place in the existing hole with a small hammer and a punch. A good local hardware store may have them, or you can find them online.
