I searched but couldn't find answers.

What is the standard bench height for my electrical outlet?

Also I bought some 4' fluorecent light with diffuser. I was wondering what this plastic ugly cover could be really useful or can I run them without it? Thanks.

Kitchen counters are at 36" while wall cabinet bottoms are at 54". Outlets center between at about 42" to bottom of electric box. Measurements from floor.

I set my bench at 42" because I am tall, so therefore put my outlets higher at 48".

Can't help on the light question.

Standard height I always do is 48 to the top. The purpose of the diffuser is mostly to protect the bulbs from getting hit and breaking above you. They make clear tubes you can slide over the bulbs that would do the same thing if you took the cover off.

if you want a more custom fit, stand close to the wall and bend your arm 90 degrees with your elbows at your side. then touch the wall with your finger tips. this is usually a comfortable working height for a bench. then you put the outlet above that line 6 to 12 inches depending on your liking

I put most of my outlets centered 4" UNDER the bench, 2 or 3 inches back from the edge. Run the wires straight back to the wall so you can still clamp things to the bench. When using power tools on the bench, I find the cords get more in the way with outlets mounted on the wall at the back of the bench.

I plan on placing my wall outlets at 49" from the bottom of the outlet. As someone else mentioned here keeping them above plywood height has advantages. For work bench height I usually go to catalogs like Pentco and see what the industry standard heights are if I'm building something custom.

Also a power strip under the front of the bench is handy especially if you have benches 4 ft deep like one of mine.

I see the approximate 48" outlet height, and as I plan my owns space I am wondering how to handle the unsupported corner of the wallboard if my covering is 48"?
