Has anyone found a good (ideally pre-made) solution for working on projects with kids that are much shorter? My 5 year old and I are spending a lot of time building things and I'd love to find a workbench that we can both sit/ stand at comfortably.

I think the simplest solution might be a height adjustable top and then some sort of step stool or bleacher he stands on while I sit but wanted to see if anyone has figured out a good answer for this. Obviously I'd love for it to work over the years as he gets taller...

It might be less expensive - especially as he grows - to just use an adjustable height chair for him or her, and not to do anything with the bench height.

My father and I worked at the kitchen table when I was just 5 year old. Maybe some old kitchen chairs, and an old table. Kids have no problems standing. It is the adults who wear out standing.

Would a set of folding saw horses (Menards/HF) work ? They have a spot for a 2x4 to lock in and you could screw a piece of plywood down for a top. It'll break down for storage plus you'll have a decent set of saw horses.

You could sit on a mechanics stool and Jr, maybe on a regular folding chair.
