Hi there,

Looking for a bench top buffer for the occasional artsy wood pieces up to maybe 12”.

Found this thread https://www.garagejournal.com/forum...estal-or-benchtop-buffer.243531/#post-4512713

While I like the idea of an eastwood it is a bit over my budget.

Rikon seems to be the next step down and they also sell cheaper clones.

Not sure if I should choose an 8” over a 6”.

Any thoughts?

Thank you.

I don’t know Eastwood, but I do know Rikon. I have their 1”x30” sander, and it is terribly junk, belt won’t stay centered, moves when pressure applied.

I would look hard at the tool before I dropped real cash on it, though a buffer is a bit simpler tool.

My buffing set up for occasional use on wood. You could easily mount something like this on a Bench top if desired.

Mine is made using an OLD, salvaged, 1/4hp garage door motor with the Beal buffing system. Not the prettiest set up but I have nothing invested except for the Beal set up.

One drawback, the motor reverses direction each time you switch it on. You have to make sure it’s rotating the correct way.
Dual shafts would be nice but I don’t find changing the wheels to really be inconvenient.

I never considered mounting it on a bench top due to the mess that buffing can make. That’s why I use the Workmate.
