I thought I started a thread about this, but I don't see it. :willy_nil

I don't want the space of normal size of part cleaner to get in the way in my small single stall garage, so I'm looking at benchtop's. The one I got real excited about is a hang on the wall or it has stands to put on a bench or even on the floor.

It is made by Redline Engineering and see that it's now $200 bucks ! It was $159 a few weeks ago and was on ebay for $129. I pissed away time, and it sold. There is one,.....left for $159 with free shipping.

I really like this unit and having such a small and working,....garage, it does not take floor space. Unlike some benchtops, the fluid goes through the brush. I realize there are many quality small part washers out there (done a lot of searching) for $50 less, but this one is cool. I like how it's built too. I know I could buy a cheap 5g bucket to do about the same cleaning but,....

Be easy on me guys !

First a few questions.

Am I nut's,.... for it being $160 ? :lol_hitti
Would you buy this ?

What non-oil based cleaners work best for you ?
I'd like to use harsh cleaners that I'm used to, but the pump isn't made for them. :(

But,....go green for mother earth.

I don't think your nuts at all. It's a pretty cool design for a shop with limited space such as your describing.

Personally, I didn't care for the water based cleaners and as it turned out the pump in my HF unit didn't last that long so I put a Little Giant solvent pump in ti and swithced to Tractor Supply's solvent.

I say go for it if it suits your needs. You can always replace the pump later on if need be.

I'd rather use solvents, but most home use parts washer pumps won't survive. My buddy has a mechanic business and he will let me dispose my used up solvent there. I didn't think about Little Gaint having a solvent pump. I'm a saltwater hobbiest and their used in our hobby, and with our pond. I'll look them up.
Thanks.

I have a generic cr@ppy chinese floor standing unit and was using simple green water based degreaser fluid. OK, it sort of worked, but nothing like a good solvent. After a little while the pump dies and it just became a rather large bucket.
I have previously used kerosene and found it to be an awesome degreaser, but very smelly etc, and I don't like the fire risk.
A friend modified his one after his pump similarly died, he fitted a windscreen washer pump, and uses diesel as the fluid. He reckons it's great, but I haven't tried it.

Simple green works good. Purple power is ok, it may discolor aluminum something to watch for with anything really. I've not used either in a parts washer though.

FWIW, a mix of mostly Diesel and some ATF would work decent and be disposable in with used oil.

I've used, lacquer thinner/mineral spirits, denatured alcohol, acetne, carb cleaner, good old WD-40 etc, even oxi-clean. Then a lot of the Purple Power types which work ok,.....for minor grease cleaning, but nothing like solvents for heavy duty ground in, caked on globs of grease ****.

For my paint guns I only use mineral spirits, as it cleans well and leaves no residue, unlike most oil based products. I just checked on the Little Giant solvent pumps and man, their expensive but ($70 +) if they last much longer it will be worth it. Haven't looked at other brands to compare yet.

Thanks guys !

I have a perfect spot for it next to the garage door, on the wall. I'll post pics when I receive the washer and have it mounted. I have my small shop vac on that space, so I'll find a different location on a wall for it. It's just to vaccume the 427 Cobra's carpet.

Very disappointed. I bought the hang on and today, this is a email I just received.

"Hi,

We are sorry to have to inform you that as shipper prepares to ship your order, came to find out the master box that indicated what's inside is not what actually was marked on the box.

therefore, we had fully refunded your order.
sorry for the trouble.

thank you"
