Bench vise build?

Has anyone on here ever built their own bench vise? If so lets see pictures so i can steal some ideas haha

I know there is a YouTube video of a guy making a vise made totally out of wood you might take a look at. I've seen a few threads where guys have made a vise out of flat steel, but that was over a year ago. i think one was an offset vise sort of like the Dawn (Australian) vise.

i think there is also a Youtube video of a guy making a 10 inch wide jaw vise that might weigh 300 pounds.

It wouldn't be that difficult, but will depend heavily on the tools you have access to. Broaching set, contour bandsaw, boring machine or large lathe, shaper, etc. There is the potential that it could be stronger and less prone to fracture than a casting based vise.

With more planning and a little more time to construct, I would have made it so that I could easily remove and replace the parts that wear out (screw, nut and jaws). In that design, you'd probably have to destroy most of it to rebuild it. (Throw away design)
