Bench Vise Build

This was a budget build. I paid for the grade 8 bolts and lowes threaded rod. This is a medium to heavy duty bench vise that I needed and already had the c-channel laying around.
The machine I used to lay my beads was an everlast mig 200. Before I painted it I wire wheeled the rust off.
It was fun to build and I might just make another one differently. It looks beefy and aggressive and performs as well as it looks. All I need it for is just to hold stuff while I use my band saw.

why not just buy a used vise somewhere that will be much more rigid and a lot stronger.

What size thread rod and what did you use for the inner threads inside the channel. I also wanted to make one myself.

if you look at the beginning of this video, it shows something bought from home depot which seems to have the ACME screw. (it's some kind of house jack?) and a pretty serious diameter looking like at least 1".
