Thanks for the heads up. Now, let's all hope this actually goes through...
Just got an E-Mail with a tracking #yeah, order desk opens Monday morning and say, ****, we have five hundred orders for flap wheels for just the shipping charge, who goofed on the promo?![]()
I threw in a 25 pack of 5" cut off wheels. If you haven't looked yet, they're pretty much the same price as harbor freight per wheel so why not
HF and other cheap brands are more prone to failure.
I keep reading about it on the Internet, but in a lot of years, going though a pack or more a week....not one has ever "exploded" not even when I have bound them up in a cut and chunked them. Perhaps its because Im smart enough to nut continue using one after the cut off tool got dropped or kicked and the wheel damaged...perhaps Im just the only one that posts to the Internet its never happened to...
They do not last as long as good 3M cut off wheels, nor do they cut as aggressively. But since they are 1/10 the cost the higher wear out rate is more then covered. So for now, I'll continue using a mix of 3M when I need slower ware rate or faster cutting, and cheapskates ones the rest of the time
You can find Internet posts about grinding wheels exploding as well, in 40 years try as I might by abusing when I did not know better as a kid, and now using them at or past the design intent sometimes and never had one do that either.
Hard to believe I know, the Internet says they should blow up, take an eye out, make my dog pregnant and cause paint to peel on solid stone thats never had paint.
Might just be you. I havem't had any "blow-up".Must just be you. I've used plenty of cut off wheels over the years. First harbor freight one I bought late last year and used blew up on me. Not buying them ever again.
Might just be you. I havem't had any "blow-up".
Edit: I just received an email from Jack at benchmark abrasives thanking me for letting you guys know about their deal. He said they have averaged 10 orders a days for the free sets until yesterday when 250 orders were placed. And all of those are being shipped today.
He also informed me that he set up a garage journal discount for 10% off your order, no limit on uses and no expiration. Code is "garagejournal". I believe this will be my new permanent source for grinding wheels.
For home use and the price, it's worth it to meI havent had them 'blow up', but they don't last as long and don't 'hold a clean edge'.
I'm on board with Tarbellb , this is not something I cheap out on. Also I don't use them in production environment. Side note the 3M ones are my top choice.
Hope you all realized your getting a "MIXED GRIT" pack of 10...
Likely I wont like or want all of the different grits for what I do, but I figured, the mixed pack will let me use what they sell and choose what to reorder that works best for me.
Just did not see other mentioning it, so hope you all did understand its not 10 flap disks in a single grit.![]()
If you go back to the product description is specified exactly which grits you get and how many of each.

Awesome crf450x
thanks a Million.
What can I run those on,
Just use my dewalt angle grinder?, on a lower speed?
